Palm Launches 'palmone persona' Treo 600 Accessories

Palm today announced the launch of its new palmone persona range of Treo 600 accessories in partnership with Vaja.

The new range of accessories can be found here on the PalmOne website.

Having just looked at Vaja over the weekend, I can say that they have one of the best designed websites that I have come across in a very long time.  Vaja produces cases not only for the Treo 600 but also for many other Palm devices, PDA's, smartphones, MP3 players (Creative Jukebox Zen Xtra, iRiver iHP 140 and iHP 120) and Sony Cybershot digital cameras.

There's a few things to be said about the Vaja cases:
1. They are absolutely stunning and are offered in 19 different coloured leathers!
2. They are horribly expensive...
3. I'd like one as soon as possible please...

1. I haven't held a Vaja case in my hand so my statement about them being 'stunning' is based entirely on the pictures presented on their and PalmOne's website (see below).

2. Then when I talk about expensive, well... at $109 + $5 for the belt clip... it must rate as the single most expensive case for the Treo 600 yet!

3. So why do I want one?  Because I find them 'ultracool', they look like they're extremely well built and I am sure that they would raise an eye or two when placed anywhere within view.  It would undoubtedly make a good conversation starter!

For other Treo 600 cases you may also want to visit:
Covertec (If it didn't have that beige stitching I'd get it in a heartbeat...)
Sena (Looks nice enough but the overall fit is poor...)
JAVOedge (Second favourite case...)

Let me know which one you decide to get...

Andrew,

I've had 2 Vaja cases: for my Vx/OmniSky combo, and for my iPAQ/CF sled combo. Both were extraordinary in terms of the leather, workmanship and overall attention to detail.

Both were from their "Classic" line, which I still greatly admire. However, their new, "iVolution" line of cases are not to my liking. They look like leftover props from "The Prisoner"...kitchy and way too technicolor. So, of course, their only Treo case is an iVolution model. My biggest gripe with the Vaja Treo 600 case is that there is no protection for the screen. In my opinion, that is the primary reason for buying a Treo 600 case. However, that is purely a matter of personal taste. I have owned cases from other companies, as well; and, no one builds a better, more richly elegant leather case then Vaja.

Over a hundered bucks for a case? That is just notes IMO. There nice looking I could say paying 30 or 40 bucks but over a hundred, nuts to that?

Griffon,

I agree with you. For 30 - 40 bucks Sena makes very good looking cases. I have a cradle and I can use that too. Mine fits very well.

I purchased covertec case for the look and horizontal belt position. Problem: even when locked the pressure of the case on the screen answers the phone everytime it rings. You can't let phone take a message, etc. because it is answered after first ring.

I purchased the Covertec Horizontal case about a month ago and I've been extremely pleased with it's quality and functionality. I did initially experience the "auto-answer" problem, but TreoGuard solved that problem in addition to providing some other very useful capabilities.

Came across your website and thanks for the great info concerning Treo 600 cases. But can someone please make a case for WOMEN!! Belt clips are great for men but most women don't wear belts on a daily basis. How about a wrist strap attachment??

Have had Vaja cases for my mobile phones and currently for my Treo 600. I very well built case, structurally sound, and attractive too. Absolutely everyone asks me where I purchased it!! You will find it very sturdy for your expensive device!

Bought an IVolution case for treo 600. Lasted about 6 months. I do not abuse my equipment, and it was never dropped. The leather wears away to a layer of very cheap plastic which breaks easily under normal stress. I would not recommend this particular case to anyone, especially considering the price.

That being said, many of Vaja's other items look of decent quality, but I would not purchase from them again as the refused to honor their warrantee. I cannot abide a company that does not stand behind their product.

Now I've got a $1.49 ultra clip mount stuck to the back of my treo and a ~$10 swivel clip which I couldn't be happier with. :)

Regarding the 'for women' comment above, most women I know carry their phones in their purse or bag. Maybe there isn't a market for wrist straps? I like your thinking though....very 'outside the box' :)

I purchased the covertec tan and am very satisfied with it. Comfortable, good fit and the magnetic clasp works well.

Amen to the comment above about some sort of case for women. I have been from one end of the web to the other this weekend looking for a wrist-strapped mini case/wallet to accompany my new Treo 700w. The only cases marketed at women I see are *absurdly* girly. (Rhinestones and such.)

I have had a Vaja for about a year and it fell apart. They are not real helpful. Had problems when I ordered and DO NOT suggest you buy one. They look good in the begining but the leather holding the phone in was so thin it fell apart. I am very careful with my stuff so I know it isn't rough use. Great to look at from afar, not to use daily.
