Now Official: Verizon Treo 650 Available Soon!!!
Finally, there's official news from Verizon Wireless that the Treo 650 will soon become available on their network via a dedicated webpage (image below) with a link from the company's website.

Verizon's dedicated page for its forthcoming version of the Treo 650 states that:
The latest Smartphone from PalmOne - the Treo 650 will soon be certified on the Verizon Wireless network. The Treo 650 has all the great features you’d want in a Smartphone – and more! It comes loaded with Wireless Sync so you can send and receive email directly from your Smartphone and even synchronize your email with most POP3 and IMAP email accounts when you subscribe to a PDA/Smartphone plan.
Additionally, in the current class-action prone environment, there's a bit of a 'disclaimer' about the Bluetooth functionality that Verizon Treonauts will be able to expect:
*Disclaimer: The Treo 650 supports the following Bluetooth Profiles: wireless headset, hands-free accessories, file transfer and synchronization with compatible PC’s. It does not support all profiles, for object exchange (Obex).
Basically, again don't expect to see Dial Up Networking (DUN) enabled on this Treo... However, as previously posted, there is a simple workaround for this using the PDANet software.
Still, considering the number of emails that I have received asking me when Verizon's Treo 650 would be released, there will undoubtedly be a great many Treonauts who will be delighted to hear that they won't have to wait much longer.
According to our sources we should expect availability of Verizon's Treo 650 by mid-April and I'll keep you posted with any developments.
If, however, Verizon is not your preferred carrier then you can currently choose from the Unlocked GSM, Cingular GSM or Sprint CDMA versions of the Treo 650.
UPDATE: Although there is no mention of EV-DO, there are strong indications that Verizon's Treo 650 will indeed have support for it (then again maybe not...).
UPDATE2: Newer rumours lean towards a mid to end of April release...
UPDATE3: Verizon’s Treo 650 is finally available to purchase directly from palmOne and for those upgrading from another Treo smartphone they have a special offer for a free Bluetooth headset (see links below).

I just talked to our rep for our business account at Verizon and he says they have been told May 10th is the date the 650 will be available. I asked him if he would bet the house and he hedged, but he said he was "fairly" confident that date would be the day. Just FYI......take it for what it is worth.
I went to Crap-Izon and bought a 600. I love the darn thing.. I just wish that it had all the cool stuff that the 650 does. I plan on returning it in time for the 15 day trial. We should all go and get 600's and then wait 14 days and return them!! :)
My friend has a 650 and we put the two side by side. The biggest difference is the display. The display and the bluetooth seem to be the only two things that are different. You can download apps for the 600 to play MP3's and get the Butler for alarms and such. So if you don't care too much about display, I would suggest getting the 600 until Ver-"i don't care about the customer"-izon figures it all out. Don't get me wrong, if I had the option to get a 650 I would.
Our comm guy here at work just told me that his Verizon rep says that the 650 just got put on indefinite hold. Can anyone verify this?
Just got off the phone with a verizon rep who put me on hold to check with her manager. She said that while she doesn't have an exact date, that Verizon has offically discontinued sales of the Treo 600, and that means the 650 should be out in a week or 2. I also heard that business customers with 5 or more lines would get first pick. That sucks, I was tempted to just give in and purchase a windows mobile based smartphone that had bluetooth and wifi builtin. As time passes, I'm seeing more reason to go the windows route because of all the features that the 650 won't have, all I can say is that they better come out with the 650 fast, before they loose too many customers!!!
I just checked the VZW site, and it looks like you can go all the way in the order process for a 600. Are they stopping sales via the business channels?
They are selling the remaining handsets for the 600 on a first come first serve basis, but one they run out they will not be getting more in stock.
Engadget has reported from a reliable source that the 650 will be available to business users on May 11th, and to everybody else on May 23rd. That sucks!

The Treo release date also mantches up with a post in Howardforums.com (http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=625304&perpage=15&pagenumber=1)
I guess I am inclined to begin believeing these dates as they are becoming more uniform among the different sites....
We will see....
I called verizon wireless today and a rep by the name of Sharon said that the Treo 650 will be available to their retail customers on May 23, 2005. It will be available May 11, 2005 for their business customers.
What's the deal with your Treo 650 Verison countdown clock? I've seen it count to zero twice. Now it says 21 more day. Do you actually know an approximate date?
Doug
Does anyone know if Verizon's 650 will be a tri-mode or quadra band phone?
Doug,
Please read the update here:

Wes,
No, Verizon's Treo 650 (like Sprint's) is dual-band 800/1900 MHz as it is CDMA.
Cingular's and the unlocked Treo 650 GSM are quad-band.
You can read additional details of the CDMA model in this PDF document:

My brother, who works for verizon in Florida, say May 23 release.
can someone help me out. I'm in metro NYC area. Any reason I should chose one over the other between cingular and verizon. I've always been a verizon customer but I understand cingular may be pretty good also. Someone point the way.
I talked to our Verizon Business Account Rep again today. I think I am starting to drive him crazy on this...LOL!! He says that they still are being told they will have the phones on the 10th and that I'm the first person he is shipping one out to on the 11th. He doesn't know anything about the retail dates.
would appreciate a response to my question re verizon v. cingular
isimon,
I don't know if service would be any better in the NYC but I've used both Verizon and Cingular in the Carolinas & Virginia and Verizon was far better than cingular in coverage, billing, & customer service. Cingular may have improved since the AT&T merger, but I'm not willing to find out. Hope that helps.
The Treo is available today (5/10/05) at my Verizon store in New Jersey to business customers. They said they don't know the date for release to retail customers.
Yep, it is out!!! My sales rep just sent me an email with the FedEx tracking number of my new 650 that shipped today. It will be here tomorrow AM.
oops.. i meant Northstar, which Verizon store in NJ has them? (not Wes).. sorry.
HELP !!!
I have been a big fan of Palms, I want to buy a Treo. I currently use Verizon as my cell provider. I travel a lot to countries where GSM is the most common.
CAN I FIND A WORK AROUND TO HAVE VERIZON (WITH CDMA) AND ALSO HAVE THE TREO GSM CAPABLE ???? so I can travel and just change the chip?
Thanks for your response.
