Now Official: Verizon Treo 650 Available Soon!!!
Finally, there's official news from Verizon Wireless that the Treo 650 will soon become available on their network via a dedicated webpage (image below) with a link from the company's website.

Verizon's dedicated page for its forthcoming version of the Treo 650 states that:
The latest Smartphone from PalmOne - the Treo 650 will soon be certified on the Verizon Wireless network. The Treo 650 has all the great features you’d want in a Smartphone – and more! It comes loaded with Wireless Sync so you can send and receive email directly from your Smartphone and even synchronize your email with most POP3 and IMAP email accounts when you subscribe to a PDA/Smartphone plan.
Additionally, in the current class-action prone environment, there's a bit of a 'disclaimer' about the Bluetooth functionality that Verizon Treonauts will be able to expect:
*Disclaimer: The Treo 650 supports the following Bluetooth Profiles: wireless headset, hands-free accessories, file transfer and synchronization with compatible PC’s. It does not support all profiles, for object exchange (Obex).
Basically, again don't expect to see Dial Up Networking (DUN) enabled on this Treo... However, as previously posted, there is a simple workaround for this using the PDANet software.
Still, considering the number of emails that I have received asking me when Verizon's Treo 650 would be released, there will undoubtedly be a great many Treonauts who will be delighted to hear that they won't have to wait much longer.
According to our sources we should expect availability of Verizon's Treo 650 by mid-April and I'll keep you posted with any developments.
If, however, Verizon is not your preferred carrier then you can currently choose from the Unlocked GSM, Cingular GSM or Sprint CDMA versions of the Treo 650.
UPDATE: Although there is no mention of EV-DO, there are strong indications that Verizon's Treo 650 will indeed have support for it (then again maybe not...).
UPDATE2: Newer rumours lean towards a mid to end of April release...
UPDATE3: Verizon’s Treo 650 is finally available to purchase directly from palmOne and for those upgrading from another Treo smartphone they have a special offer for a free Bluetooth headset (see links below).

Treonauts would like all carriers to join the revolution...

JPP - unfortunately not, you have to choose between either CDMA or GSM. If you're frequently travelling outside the US then the most likely solution for you will be a GSM phone which has wider global coverage and where you can easily change SIM cards purchased on a local basis.
I hope this helps.
Cheers, A.
I ordered my Treo 650 Wednesday (5/11) and it has shipped. I should receive it today or Monday.
Any updates/experience with the Verizon Treo 650s? One rep that I talked to said there was some initial issues with connectivity. Any issues?
I ordered one on PalmOne with Verizon. Shipping is noted as 2-3 weeks out.
Thanks,
Garth
I ordered a Treo 650 this morning from Verizon.
Hope to get it by Wednesday. :)
I have had my Verizon Treo 650 for about one week and, unless things quickly turn around, I am going to return it. Connectivity is horrible. Some of the pre-installed applications do not work. The unit periodically resest itself. The support at Verizon has been very responsive -- trying to help -- but they have not been able to resolve the problems.
Our office just bought 5 Treo 650's using Verizon service. We use GroupWise 6.5 as our email service and are trying to use Intellisync to sync our Treo's to the GroupWise calendar and contacts. Unfortunately, we're having problems synching. I heard our IT guy say that Intellisynch is not providing support for the Verizon 650. Is anyone having the same problem synching with GroupWise, and is anyone aware of a solution? Right now, the only benefit I'm receiving from the Treo 650 is email. Our IT dept. is clueless about how the Treos operate and I was hoping there's some consultant's out there that can get office's like ours up and running for these new gadgets. Appreciate any help...
I am interested in the Verizon Treo 650 primarily for phone and PDA capabilities but will not need the e-mail and internet connectivity. Is there a way to disconnect the internet service so the phone does not create undesired charges?
Pat, I initially signed up for Internet access, but cancelled it because I couldn't justify the $45/mo expense for such slow speed - not to mention that you can't use it as a modem for the laptop. Before the phone connects to the Internet, you have to click the "Yes" button. So as long as you don't do that, you're ok.
One mistake that people make who sign up for the pay-as-you-go plan is that they don't realize that the Internet stays connected until you literally disconnect from it. So you can switch away from the browser and think you're disconnected when you're not!

Just bought a Verizon Treo 650 for my wife, who uses AOL for her email. Anyone have success on setting this up?
Hi,
I have a brand new, never activated Treo 650 CDMA. This is programmed for use with Earthlink.
Can it be unlocked and then reactivated for Sprint? I am a Sprint user. What about for use with Verizon?
I understand I need a “subsidy unlock code” from Earthlink but so far they have been unwilling to cough it up.
I bought a Verizon 600 and am looking to unlock it to use a different carrier.
is that possible? I does not take a sim card (as far as I know, neither does sprints....
any help would be appreciated.
thanks!
Just purchased the 650 from verizon. The VZmail is kinda useless. Although it syncs with exchange, you have to do it manually (no autosync setting). Also, A BIG ISSUE, is that you only have access to your contacts folder on your desktop. No access to corporate email addresses. Not sure if that impact others, but makes VZmail kinda worthless to me.
Is it possible to unlock a Verizon 650 for use on Sprint's network?
Does anyone know if a cinguar treo 650 can be used on the verizon network?
(I use mine on sprint but my brother is giving me his (cingular) for my wife (verizon) and i don't want to waste a brilliant device.
Thanks Alex
I have Treo 650 thru Verizon can i have this phone unlocked to use it with t-mobile?
I have the same question as the gentleman above. Interested in getting a Verizon branded treo 650 and would like to unlock it for the t-mobile network. ANy suggestions.
I have Verizon 650 that I want to unlock and use on Sprint network... I found a site that boasts an unlock code but I can't get it to work. http://www.engadget.com/2005/02/06/how-to-unlock-your-gsm-treo-650/ . Anyone have another solution???
