London 7/7
This morning’s horrific terrorist attacks in London (where I am based) have left me badly shaken, extremely sad and outraged.
Thankfully, neither I nor my immediate family, friends or colleagues have been hurt in this terrible event. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those less fortunate people and families that have had relatives injured and my condolences for those who have fallen victim to this despicable terrorist act.

UPDATE: Below are two images that have grabbed me.

The first is by ramanja at Flickr.com and the second is from a photographic blog (WereNotAfraid.com) that has been setup in defiance to the attackers to show that terrorists would not change the way people lived their lives [Thanks Brian].

Our thoughts are with as your's were with us on Sep 11th a few years back...
Now for the conspiracy theorists... there've been lots of rumors and talk that Bush wanted to finish his daddy's war, but needed an excuse, and thus allowed Sept 11th to happen so he could head to the Middle East, and eventually back into Iraq. Now, the effort is losing steam and support, not to mention money. I'd absolutely hate to think that this was *allowed* so as to re-kindle support. Its sad, but historically politicians have used people as pawns to push forward their own agendas...
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Brits and you know we'll always be with you.
Unbelievable, you liberal a$$es actually hate Bush so much that you think that a terrorist attack in Britain was allowed? Anyone in their right mind wouldn't think this way!!!
And yes, my prayers are certainly with all of those in Britain. God bless you all!!!
Nope, I didn't "honestly suggest" anything... I just pointed out a thought. Following the Sept 11th attacks in the US, there was news/rumors that certain govt agencies might've known about the plans and *allowed* it to happen to give us an excuse to put a foot in the middle east to both have better control of the oil we need as well as to have a launching point for Bush to finish his Daddy's war. I'm not saying I agree, just that the comments were made. As sad as today's events were, I find its timing ironic... that it comes as both the US and UK are taking a lot of heat in the press, UN, and foreign governments for the longstanding wars in Afghanistan and Iraq; that we're losing lots of lives and money, yet seem to be making very little promise. As dreadful as it sounds, if something like this were to have been known in advance and *allowed*, it would definitely garner the sympathy the governments are looking for and serve to provide some renewed interest in what many are becoming disillusioned with.
Ted C. - I'm actually a conservative, Republican and a fan of Bush and voted for him twice. I also come from a family with a long history of people that work for various govt agencies including the CIA, FBI, ATF, & the Secret Service. Despite how I feel about Bush, I abhor politicians in general as I believe most of them will do, say, or *allow* anything to get their agendas done and stay in office as long as possible.
In 20/20 hindsight, this probably wasn't the best forum for my conspiracy theory post, so let's hope it ends here.
Woke up to this news this morning and was very sad to see this type of thing happening to someone again. Our hopes and prayers are with everyone there. Sadly, my first thought was that more attacks would follow in the other G8 countries. I was amazed we waited until mid afternoon to raise the threat level here.
Take care!
Geo
Andrew, my prayers are with you and your people. As you know, the U.S. always has your back.
God bless, and take care.
Keep up that stiff upper lip, and in the words of Churchill....
"Never give in--never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy."
