Namco Classics on your Treo
I rarely write about games but today's release by Namco of its classics Pac-Man, Ms.Pac-Man and Galaxian (Galaga and Mappy to be released soon as well) was too important to pass up.
I briefly tested both Pac-Man versions on my Treo 600 but Galaxian requires a 320x320 resolution so I'll have to wait for my Treo 650 to arrive...
The games themselves require no introduction. The resolution isn't great on the Treo 600 but still perfectly acceptable (I can't wait for high-res though). The original sounds of both Pac-Man and Ms.Pac-Man however is where you really get a trip down memory lane - they're awesome. I was really annoyed that the demo version doesn't even allow you to complete one level though - they could have done that at a minimum.
Also, sadly on my Treo both games came with a bug. Namely that I could only use the up/down on the 5-way navigation button and then the left phone/calendar buttons for left/right movement. I certainly _hope_ that this is a bug and that they didn't design the game to play like this. With the 5-way nav button fully supported play should be absolutely terrific. I've contacted Namco about this but haven't heard back yet.
All games are available to buy now for $14.99 each (a bargain if you ask me) and as soon as someone can fix my little problem I'll get at least one for sure.
UPDATE: Namco have now fixed the 5-Way navigation bug and I can report that it plays perfectly... You can download the update here.
Treonauts can still see the world with the fresh eyes of a child...
