One Very Lucky Treonaut...

It had to happen sooner or later... We have news of one of the very first Treonauts to receive his brand spanking new Treo 650!!!

Besides the fact that I am dying with jealousy and that I find it absolutely pathetic that I have not yet received my own Treo 650 (finding it somewhat difficult to contain my frustration and anger) I am naturally over the moon that at least someone out there has been lucky enough to get their hands on this jewel of a smart phone...

The Sprint packaging of your new Treo 650...

Opening to reveal the jewel inside...

Oh gosh... she's a beauty!

Let me get her closer, I want to kiss her...

Among others you can now pre-order your very own Treo 650 here at Amazon (we guesstimate that they will start shipping early next week).  At $369.99 after Sprint and Amazon rebates it is also the lowest priced Treo 650 that we have come across so far - in fact it's the same price that the Sprint Treo 600 is currently retailing for...

Treonauts lack patience when it comes to the Treo 650...

I am a new Sprint user and they had about 1,900 in stock when I ordered around 2pm EST yesterday. They said they just got them that day.

I ordered my GSM unlocked unit yesterday coutesy of the coupon from a PalmOne Treo Road Show. Think it will be 4 to 6 weeks though until I get to play

I received just the Jabra Bluetooth headset today and I ordered the 650 w/headset the first day of pre-order. Not sure why PalmOne wasted the money to send the headset ahead of the 650, not like I can use it w/o the phone.

Anyone else just get the headset? My PalmOne order says the 650 is backordered. I hope that means that they just haven't hit their official "ship" date yet and not they've run out already. It would be pretty bad for them to run out considering how quickly I got in line with my pre-order.

does the package include a holster for the treo or something to at least protect it?
or do you have to buy it seperate

I called sprint today and ordered the 650 with a new service plan. Got it for 450 + tax, and the woman said I should get it tomorrow or the next day. I think palmone provided Sprint with the first batch of them, which may explain why the ones pre-ordered from palmone will take longer to ship.

No holster, slip case or case in the box - typical!
Planning to get me one of those Vaja cases anyways but still for $600 you'd expect that P1 could at least put a $5 case in the box right?

Forgot to say there's a free screen protector in the box - at least that will save me a few bucks.

Does anyone know if you can listen to streaming audio (realpayer) on the treo? Like NPR's online stream?

Also, does the 650 need a headphone adapter to listen with regular headphones? Does it come with one?

I just called Sprint and was told they had no way to place an order yet. Also the website doesn't show them. I will continue to wait for my preorder to arrive.....

Correction..... I called Sprint again and this sales person said they do have them in stock. I then called PalmOne about my preorder and was told it will be 1 to 2 weeks. So they must have given the first batch to Sprint.

Is it just me, or does P1 have a tendency to make bad mistakes that wouldn't have happened with Handspring?

1) No increase in RAM.
2) No wi-fi.
3) Same rez camera.
4) Sending a partial, useless order (see my prev post)
5) Dissing loyal Treonauts with 1st batch going elsewhere.

Considering Handspring's history when solo, I don't think any of these mistakes would have happened with them. Consider that Handspring went from the Treo 300 to 600 in a year. Yet, in the same amount of time P1 only delivers a minor upgrade in the 650?!

I almost didn't upgrade to the 650, but I want a faster processor, better browser and a screen that can be read in sunlight. So, I changed my mind and pre-ordered the 650. But, there are only going to be so many mistakes before us Treonauts start considering other devices. Other companies will catch up...there's no doubt about that. P1 needs to perfect their game to stay ahead of the pack.

I ordered my Treo via Sprint Phone sales yesterday 11/18 at 4:22pm est. It arrived today 11/19 at 1:52pm. It's awesome! Sprint must have a surplus because that ship time is insane!

Interesting... I just called Sprint Customer Service and got told that this phone is not yet in their system, i.e. it can't be ordered yet. The lady said that only select stores have one for so you can look at it!?
Obviously, the right hand doesn't know what the left hand does at Sprint.
OR.... it is only available to NEW customers, which would make some sense to me since new customers are good customers! :-)

Sprint is really pising me off, I have been a Sprint Customer for over 2 years, I ordered my Treo 650 on Sunday 21st. and the lady told me that I should have it on Tuesday no later than Wednesday, It will ship out on Monday the 22nd. Thats Bull It's now Wednesday and I called Sprint and shows it is still processing, What should I do now, Are there any Sprint Stores that have them yet??
