Power To Go for your Treo
Those Treonauts lucky enough to already have a Treo 650 in hand now have the convenience of extending their usage by simply carrying a spare battery and inserting it when required. But what about Treo 600 owners?
This is a question that I've asked myself for some time and to which I only recently found the answer in the shape of BoxWave's Battery Adapter ($19.50). If like me you've been in situations where you had the need to use your Treo over extended periods of time while 'mobile' at a conference, during a long flight or other journey where 'power' is not available then I think that you'll immediately appreciate the benefits and love the simplicity of this device.
BoxWave's Battery Adapter consists of a candy-bar shaped plastic casing, a removeable back cover to accomodate 4 standard AA batteries, an on/off switch, a green indicator light when power is activated and a female USB lead in which to plug your retractable miniSync (another BoxWave product) or USB Travel Cable. The casing itself weighs next to nothing and feels very sturdy in your hand.
Loaded with batteries it's only a question of plugging your Treo, USB Travel Cable and Boxwave's Battery Adapter to go from battery low warning to battery full.
Also note that this setup will work with any Treo (including the 650) or other PalmOS device provided that you have a USB charging cable for it. Considering that a spare Treo 650 battery is $59.99 some people may find this to be a perfectly adequate (albeit less elegant) substitute.
I personally feel that when it comes to accessories the best things are the simplest things and in this respect the battery adapter is undoubtedly a very welcome addition to my kit.
