Cingular Treo 650: Delays but Lucky First
Although my own sources still give the nod for the official release of Cingular's Treo 650 GSM tomorrow or Thursday, TreoCentral reports that the launch has been postponed by one week to Wednesday Feb. 2. Well, I guess that we'll have to wait just a couple more days to find out but if it is delayed then I really have no idea what might have caused this possible last minute shift in plans...
At any rate, Engadget reports that at least one lucky Treonaut got his hands on a unit so there is some hope that a few may trickle out before the official release next week... time to take your Cingular sales rep out for lunch perhaps...

So I have contacted about 10 Cingular stores here in the Atlanta area (Cingular's homebase) and none of them have heard of an official release date...I walked into one last night and he was like, "That's coming out this month??" I just have to ask, why would a company not want to promote such a big product launch like this???
The Treo 650 landed in the B2B segment at AT&T Wireless today (Wednesday). They are dual-releasing this as "blue" and "orange" due to the extensive AT&T (blue) business accounts. While it might be a while yet before it's seen on websites or in your local store, the B2B channels have it in blue. Orange release still pending, but has to be any day.
I work for a company that has a Premier account with AT&T and they do not have the Treo 650 available through buisness channels...Where or who did you talk to you?
Also, I just contacted Cingular and they stated that Feb 3rd will be the official launch of the Treo 650.
Trust me when I say it's a waste of time to walk into a Cingular store and ask. They have no idea when they get new items till the day they receive a memo or get the product. Same thing with calling Cingular. Their systems just say if the phone is available or not. I am knocking on wood that it will be out tomorrow since I just sold all three of my at&t phones on ebay so I can get this phone. Till I get the treo I have to use my Verizon phone.
