Our Smartphone Stores.  Buy Accessories For Your... Blackberry Android Moto Q iPhone Centro Treo

It's amusing to see that there's an area relating to our Treo that we all know about but rarely write about - even though according to a well known book it is on our minds XXX times per day...  That's right, you guessed it, we're talking about sex.

An article earlier today in The Register about Playboy's announcement that "Sony PSP owners can now avail themselves of the very best in widescreen naked fillies" prompted me to think about this and set me wondering about what our Treo might have to offer on this front.

Although I haven't explored this fully (really) it is obvious that Treonauts have a great number of choices when it comes to 'erotic material on the go'.

Playboy for example now has two photo initiatives for handhelds with their iBod (for iPod Photo owners) and the Playboy Station Portable (for PSP owners).  Either of these options offers free photo downloads which will work fine on your Treo.

As I've mentioned in the past, my preferred photo application for the Treo is SplashPhoto because it provides me with both a desktop and handheld application and more importantly because it's incredibly fast and easy to use.  After downloading and unzipping iBod's photo package, I open SplashPhoto Desktop, create a new category called 'Playboy', select 'Add Images' and finally perform a HotSync to easily move all of the images to my SD card - the entire process takes about 2 minutes.

Thereafter you can view your pictures in normal mode, slideshow mode or slideshow+music mode (integrates with Pocket Tunes).

Web Photos
Another option for photos is to use your web browser and find sites that are optimized for mobile phones.  Personally I consider looking at any kind of pictures via a mobile web browser to be painfully slow and thus a complete waste of time but if you'd like to take it for a spin you can check out at 'Babe of the Day' to get an idea.  [Thanks Andrew D.]

While I can't suggest where you should go to find any erotic videos, I can however tell you that there is absolutely no doubt that your best bet for high quality video playback on your Treo will come in the form of the free open source The Core Pocket Media Player (TCPMP) which I reviewed on Friday.

Both eReader and Mobipocket offer a collection of 'Erotica' ebooks although eReader appears to be somewhat 'discreet' on this front as it does not list a separate dedicated category but instead lists these under 'Contemporary Fiction'.

Audible also offers a selection (albeit small) of erotic audiobooks which you can listen to at your leisure while on the go.  As an example, one of the highest rated ones that I found is called 'Show and Tell'.

As you can see there are quite a few options when it comes to carrying or accessing erotica while on the go with our Treo.  However, I would naturally be delighted to see that sometime in the future Playboy would 'honor' us by adding the Treo to their list of dedicated handheld devices as they've done with the iPod and PSP.  Also, as with other forms of content, I believe that there is a real need to simplify the user process of accessing and loading this information onto their devices as well as to provide services to support these.

For example, I recently (but in an entirely different context) mentioned that I thought that the market might be ready to 'subscribe' to photographic services which would regularly update our Treo (via OTA or HotSync) with new images for a reasonable fee.  In this respect, a tool such as SplashBlog would provide an interesting infrastructure for any would-be mobile content publishers.

At any rate, I am sure that we will be seeing many more developments in this space over the coming months and years as customers, carriers and content owners come together to meet this 'need'.

Treonauts once in a while fancy a skinny dip...

Not to bitch or anything (no pun intended), but after all that, no mention of the site you already know about that links to each of the things you listed??? I'm so hurt! Not even a "thanks Andrew...". ;)

Seriously though, since Playboy made the iBOD pix public domain, you can find them at http://palm.nccomp.com/MobileEnjoyment.html, as you can the Babe of the Day (as listed above). And on that same page, you can digress from the softer goods to some... shall we say... harder goods, and even enjoy some Paparazzi pics of Anna Kournikova and Sharon Stone.

So I ask, why go to multiple sites when you go to one and see them all? http://palm.nccomp.com/MobileEnjoyment.html

If you'd like to save the downloading hassle (and giving your email address out) you can get the 6 Playboy PSP pix and the video from the link here: http://palm.nccomp.com/MobileEnjoyment.html or directly at http://palm.nccomp.com/PBPSP.html

Oh, and after reading about tcpmp, I gave it a shot... and being such a fan of, um... shall we say "alternate material", I decided to test some goodies. As a courtesty, below are links to the tcpmp .prc file and some sample movies (non-copyrighted material, in the public domain). I'll leave them up for a week or so. You can install the .prc directly from Blazer, but I suggest downloading the movies from a regular browser and transfering them to an SD card. Just my way of showing the power of the Treo. ;)

I couldn't do it without the 5-way. :)

two questions,

1. I am getting hesitation followed by skipping every 3 seconds or so. I ran the benchmark and got about 113% and it didn't skip but instead ran fast. I have no idea what the problem is.

2. This is a great topic - even if some are afraid to discuss it. Check out www.askjolene.com from Blazer.

I got some skipping too, but only on videos that were at higher res's and had to be manipulated. For example, I had a few at 480x480 and one at 800x600 and they skipped when viewed with TCPMP. However, there are sample movies on the more TCPMP page that are encoded at 320x320 and 240x240. These don't seem to skip. Remember, its still in alpha status. The fact that it plays them, albeit with skips, but without crashing AT ALL says a lot about the project. Personally, though, I'm waiting for ASF and WMV support. :)
