Winners in our Midst

OK, so we all did our little thing and played palmOne's "Treo Thanks a Million" contest a couple of days ago but the question on many minds is did we win and if yes how much...

I personally did not win a Treo, neither did I get a 50% coupon but instead got a 15% off coupon for any order placed in the Treo store before April 26... Naturally a big freebie would have been nice but then again 15% off for two minutes of my time is pretty good nonetheless.

Here's a screenshot of my email notifying me that I'm elligible for the 15% off any Treo Store order which now that I stop to think about it is actually pretty cool particularly if you've been planning to buy yourself a Treo 650...  Using the coupon, the unlocked model will be reduced from $699 to $595 - a very nice $100 shaved!!!  For example, I forwarded the email to a friend who needed 5 unlocked ones for his international sales team and he saved $500 - he owes me dinner now...

There are however even more good news... Apparently the 15% off coupon code is the same for everybody so even if you didn't enter the contest you can still go to palmOne's 15% giveaway page, enter coupon code TGB75Q2ZXN and get your discount!

Since I didn't get a 50% coupon code (valid only on a Treo smartphone purchase) I can unfortunately not tell you if this is also a unique code that can be used by everyone (who gets their hands on one).  Please if you've received one of these could you email it to me (after you've used it yourself) to treonauts [at] pobox.com so that your fellow Treonauts might also share in your luck...

Finally, I wonder how many of us might have been fortunate enough to be among the 144 lucky few winners of a Treo 650 or Treo 600.  Again, you can email me or better yet fill out the survey below.

I will naturally update this post when/if I get any news on the 50% coupon code...

Treo Thanks a Million Winners

What did you win?

Free Treo 650

I almost forgot... To celebrate the fact that we're ultimately all winners I've also extended our 10% off any application offer in the Software Store until April 26 - simply use the coupon code TREOMM.

UPDATE: [Thanks JC] The 50% coupon codes are unique after all and are only valid once toward one smartphone purchase...  so unless you received one you should be happy with your 15% off... Apparently only 300 of these 50% coupons were issued.

If you're among one of the lucky winners of a Treo or 50% off coupon (17 Treonauts so far in our poll) - heartfelt congratulations!

Treonauts feel like winners no matter what...

lol, what's hilarious is if you use the 15% off a unlocked 650 you bring it back to the price it originally was the first 2 days it was released

Well, actually 5 bucks cheaper

Just to clarify...those of us who got 15% off coupons LOST this contest.

Well, entering over 50 times did the trick for me. I got my letter saying "Congratulations on winning one of our "Thanks a Million" Treo™ smartphones. To receive your free Treo™ 600 or 650 smartphone, visit:"
It's the same deal as the 15% and 50% discounts. You get a code to enter (yes, you can have it, the moment my phone arrives) and it takes you to the palmone store. There it gives you the options, first for 600 or 650 (and i'll bet that 1 guy maybe got a 600, but if anyone who won chose a 600, they didn't deserve to win and if you know someone that won and they chose a 600, don't hang out with them anymore, they probably aren't that cool anyway and will end up making you uncool too) then on the next page you get options for either the Sprint or Cingular gsm version. Of course this is when you have to actually not be a complete idiot and try to remember all that you've learned from Treonauts and go down to the bottom of the page where in small-ass hypertext it says..."Looking for an unlocked GSM Treo 650 smartphone" Unless of course you're on Sprint, in which case, nice Surfstyle® jacket, kook. Anyway the 650 is on it's way to my house and as palmone tries it's best to keep consumer spirits high they politely threw in overnight shipping. Thanks Palmone, I am Jorge!

Congratulations, Jorge. Use it in good health. I would have probably gone the unlocked GSM route myself, though there is no GSM carrier that covers my area (65 miles north of NYC). I entered a couple of hundred times. Nothing better to do, I guess. I actually got into PDAs because of a contest I lost during an AOL chat with two Psion reps in the PDA area of AOL back in 1994. Didn't win a Psion 3a, so I bought an HP 200LX (which I still use to this day).

Help! I got a 50% off coupon and I desperately want a 650. But my carrier is Verizon and I don't want to switch. (My whole family is on Verizon & I have a somewhat new 2 year contract). Does PalmOne have a Treo 650 I can use with Verizon now? The contest ends in 2 days, so what should I do?

I entered about 20 times and won a 50% coupon, but I will sell it (if that's legal).

Well i just received my GSM unlocked Palmone Treo 650 today. You guys sure make it difficult to enjoy with all of your "i entered a million times damn it!!!" comments. Sorry guys, although i'm sure i would be equally pissed if i were in 15% shoes. For those of you that got 50% off coupons and don't know what do. My advice would be hurry up and buy the unlocked one before your coupon expires, sell that sucker on ebay and you'll surely get at least 5 hundo for it. Come on, 50% off and you're going to let that expire. Make a quick 100 or 200 bucks and figure out what to buy with it later. You could have sold the coupon code on the bay outright, but now with 2 days left, i wouldn't risk a 1 day auction. Grab your credit card and make that money fool!

Hello everyone. I have a fairly simple question about the Treo 650. I'm moving to China soon and I was thinking about purchasing a Treo 650 through Cingular to bring along with me so I could have a world phone that would work in both places (I'll be traveling back and forth because of work, etc). Will the e-mail function work in China as well? The e-mail is the most important feature to me. I'll be in Shanghai, so it's a major city. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Wang,

Everything should work fine as long as you are within cover of a GSM network in China.

Cheers, A.

Does anyone know if you can combine the $100 Audible discount code to the 15% off code? Making the phone around 200 dollars off?

I have been wanting to replace my crash-daily Treo 180 with the new generation. Like the majority, I did not win the grand prize, but did receive the 15% coupon code. Thinking of using it on a 600, but was told some web store is selling it for $329 unlocked. Any opinion?

Thanks!
