Not just Another Ball Game
Sometimes there is no need to completely reinvent the wheel (or in this case the ball) to come up with a great game and that's exactly what Paragon have done with their superb rendering and bettering of a classic with AnotherBall.
At its most basic, AnotherBall arms you with a paddle and a ball with which you have to completely knock down a wall of blocks. Once you're past the basics however AnotherBall has made a number of small but significant improvements that take this particular game to a completely new level.
For starters, there are many different types of blocks which can among others be solid steel, exploding, invisible, normal, multi-hit (you have to hit the block four times for it to disappear) plus naturally each level comes with a completely different block structure.
Next come the good and bad 'bonus drops' (see below) that fall down from the blocks and which you should grab with your paddle (the good blue ones) or avoid (the bad red ones). These bonus drops are one of the critical elements making AnotherBall a game that you can play over and over again without getting bored as they appear completely randomly at each level and every time you restart making it unpredictable and therefore a great deal of fun.
Additionally, AnotherBall benefits from superb sound effects with the shattering glass, explosions, metal ball bouncing against the wall and blocks among others.
As with games such as Bejeweled, AnotherBall is best played using the stylus although I also found that you can use your thumb - at least until gameplay reaches superball speeds...
The trial version of AnotherBall only offers a few levels to give you a flavour for the game and after just a few attempts I found myself dying to get the full version and discover ever more complex structures to complete - I haven't been disappointed and believe that you'll similarly find that there is much to like about this simple yet brilliant game.

Hmm, sounds like yet another Arkanoid clone. I'll give it a try. We'll see how it compares to Ababall that I beat on my former Clie NX80V
does anyone know of a bubble wrap game/gizmo for the treo? I'm addicted to the wonderful feel and sound of popping bubbles!
thanks,
Lynda
