Free Beethoven Downloads for your Treo
As part of its ‘The Beethoven Experience’, BBC Radio 3 is making all of Beethoven’s 9 symphonies – performed by the BBC Philharmonic in Manchester and conducted by Giannadrea Noseda – available online as free downloads.
Unfortunately, as I’ve only just got wind of this, the first five symphonies (after over 700,000 downloads) are no longer available. Nevertheless, symphonies 6 and 7 are now available for free download while 8 and 9 will become available tomorrow and Friday respectively.
The 128kbps mp3 downloads include a short 2 minute introduction to Beethoven’s works and then naturally the uninterrupted music of his most spectacular symphonies which I’ve been enjoying listening to all morning.
I’m having a really hard time understanding why BBC Radio have decided to make the downloads available only for a limited time and that the first five symphonies are no longer available. Still, this particular rendition of symphonies 6 to 9 is well worth downloading from BBC Radio 3’s website.
If you’re a newly minted Treonaut, I would recommend using my preferred mp3 player Pocket Tunes. Thereafter you’ll need an adapter (I use the Seidio Stereo Adapter) to use with your existing 3.5mm headphone (such as my Bose Quiet Comfort 2) and/or a 2.5mm stereo headphone.
Treonauts like great and free music…
