A Treonaut millionaire in our midst?

Typically, if someone offers me the opportunity to win $1.0 million and there’s relatively little effort involved then of course I’ll be game for this.  I was therefore particularly curious when I received an email from palmOne proclaiming that I had a chance to win just this amount “as simple as 1, 2, 3” and asking me “what would you do with your share?” – I have a few ideas…

Best wishes to the next Treonaut millionaire!!!

The link that I followed took me to palmOne’s “Pays Back Program” page where as a registered user I simply had to log in with my email and password.  Once I got in I was a little confused however because I couldn’t find a single link to this $1.0 million promotion anywhere even though there had been a clear banner (below) before.

Instead, there was just another banner (below) prompting me to “Take the Trivia Challenge” which I did.  The ‘challenge’ consists of two “Test your palmOne IQ” trivia questions (I was asked about the Treo 650 ringtones and battery life) both of which I then answered correctly .  I then got a message telling me that “You just earned a sweepstakes entry for your chance to win extra palmOne Bucks or even a new Treo 650 smartphone!” and that I could come back every day for yet another chance to win.

That’s all very nice I thought but where’s my promised $million?  After reading the fine print I clicked on the “Validate” tab where I was finally presented with a “You and your friend can share a million dollars” message and 3 steps to follow:

  1. Choose which product you’re validating (Treo, LifeDrive, Tungsten or Zire)
  2. Enter the palmOne ID or Promotion ID Code (what’s that?) as well as the UPC Number (what’s that?)
  3. Enter the email of the friend who referred you (if you feel that Treonauts have helped you then please enter [email protected]).

I can’t yet tell you what happens after this point because I was unable to find the palmOne ID required in step two but presumably you would then be presented with some additional information about how to actually go about winning your cool million (let me know if otherwise).

Considering that there were more than a few lucky Treonaut winners in palmOne’s last “Thanks a Million” promotion back in April, I was certainly encouraged to think that this is more than some elaborate marketing ploy which would take my time but give me nothing in return.  I’ll have to wait and hear from the first Treonaut winner before I can tell you more.  Good luck to all!

If you validate a handheld or smart phone, you get a chance to pick one of 4 phones/handhelds, then click on one of the buttons or features. I assume if you pick the right combination at that moment, you win (I didn't).
