Discover Treo Revisited
As I mentioned last week, we developed another Treonauts section at discover.treonauts.com with the idea to help you point family, friends or colleagues to a single URL where they can discover a little more of what our Treo can do and why we regularly get excited like teenagers when we get a chance to talk about it.
However, after thinking about it for a while and going through a couple of ‘live’ experiments, I came to the conclusion that while the ‘Discover’ destination might be a good idea the URL itself was still too complex. We therefore registered another domain called simply DiscoverTreo.com which automatically forwards to our dedicated Treonauts page. I hope that you’ll now find this even easier to remember and use.
I would also like to thank all the people who already added their own experiences about ‘Life with Treo’ as well as the many blogs and websites that shared our passion, picked up on what we were attempting to do and linked to it thus helping to convey our message to even more future Treonauts.
However, DiscoverTreo is far from complete yet and we’ve begun adding application screenshots which we’ll complete by the end of next week. We’re also considering other options to help further share our experiences. Naturally I am keen to hear of any ideas that you might have about what we could do to enhance the Treo discovery even further.
Separately, you will have noticed that Treonauts is still not 100% back up after TypePad’s recent upgrade and the spacing between our paragraphs has yet to be resolved. I keep getting assurances that this issue will be fixed shortly (they are in fact claiming that it has been fixed) but after one week I still have no idea how much longer this might take (I’ve stopped pulling my hair before I accelerate a balding process). Apologies for all of this.
To thank you for your patience while we try to get all of these issues resolved we’ve created another 10% off coupon valid until July 31 in our software store – simply use the promotion code DISCOVER in your cart during checkout.
Treonauts are always in discovery mode…

I won't be buying software from your site again.
I ordered Facer, got a confirmation letter almost immediatly, but still have not received an activation code. Tried the contact support link, got a "page-not-found".
Just special.
Another item for DiscoverTreo - the best kept secret of the Treo 650, IMHO, is the video player support in the Media app. You can drag a video file (I've tried WMVs and MPGs) onto the QuickInstall app and it will convert the video to .ASF format and synch it. Then you can play the video using Media on the Treo 650. Works really nicely!
Karl - sorry about that. The problem has now been fixed.
Bill - thanks for your feedback. I had not actually tried this.
Cheers, A.
Hate to tell you, but the support contact is still broken. (I don't see another way of contacting you).
OSX, Safari, NS7, and IE. All the same.
Discover Treo? Stupid. Why make it complicated with overlaping sites? Obviously when someone is looking for information about a well publicized smart phone they are going to "discover" through reading a blog dedicated to the device. How about just a new visitor section to your existing blog? Don't make this complicated. I work for a large internet company and that is constantly the challenge: Not making the choices many or the layout complicated.
