Free BMW Audiobooks For The Weekend

You might recall how a few years ago BMW enlisted eight top directors to produce their excellent action-packed and fun ‘Hire Film’ series with each of these short films naturally showcasing a different car being pushed to its limits.  It’s a shame that these are no longer available for download as I would have loved to view them again on my Treo with TCPMP

However, now BMW has decided to give audiobooks a try via a new series of four free short stories from writers such as Don Winslow, James Flint, Simon Kernick and Karin Slaughter.  Currently the first two audiobooks are available for download directly from the BMW Audio Book website and the remaining two stories will become available on March 2nd and 16th.

Each audiobook lasts about a typical car journey (of course) and like the ‘Hire Series’ previously it showcases a different BMW car – Don Winslow’s “Beautiful Ride” uses the Z4 roadster and James Flint’s “Master of the Storm” features a 1 Series.  All audiobooks are conveniently packaged as .mp3 files for easy playback with RealPlayer or my preferred Pocket Tunes Deluxe combined with a pair of Seidio Retractable 2in1 Headsets.

Having just come back from Barcelona and now on my way via the Eurostar train to Paris these audiobooks proved to be a perfect light and fun entertainment option for the journey – I highly recommend them.

Finally, if you develop a liking for audiobooks after listening to these you should definitely check out Audible’s vast library.

[DISCLAIMER: Please note that I don’t work for BMW (fairly obvious) nor do I own one of their cars.  I do admit that I have been seriously attracted by the 650i convertible of late though… ]

I unfortunately listed to about half of the first book several weeks ago ... I don't think I can stomach another painful display of product placement. Way too many "Bimmer" this and "BMW Z4" comments. I'll be interested if others came away with the same 'negative' impression. Way too over done!

BTW ... I enjoy the RSS Treonauts updates ... keep the reporting up and becareful where you wear read while enjoying your trip in Spain. ;-)

You can also check out my podcast for audiobook listening pleasure:
The Public Domain Podcast at http://publicdomainpodcast.blogspot.com

My recordings are in mono so the file sizes are nice and small.

I'm a Pocket Tunes Deluxe user and love having my phone be my MP3 player as well :)

For some reason, this is causing RealPlayer to reset my 650 when I choose "songs." Works in TCPMP though.
