Yes! Treo 700p Sales Start Today!!!
Palm today has started selling the new Treo 700p for use on both the Sprint and Verizon Wireless networks (who has also begun taking orders directly).
As anticipated the Treo 700p smartphone orders with Sprint service will ship within 1 week – in line with the previously expected May 29 release date – while the Treo 700p smartphone orders with Verizon Wireless service will ship in 3 to 4 weeks.
Prices start as low as $399 for people seeking a new mobile phone plan and $619 to $649 for those wishing to keep their existing mobile phone plan with either Sprint or Verizon Wireless.
Spint’s lowest priced ‘Fair and Flexible’ price plan which includes the essential ‘unlimited data’ to make the most of the Treo 700p’s high-speed wireless data capabilities is $44.99 with 200 voice minutes and rises to $114.99 with 2000 voice minutes. The price of the Sprint Treo 700p meanwhile is $399 after $100 instant rebate and $150 service credit with a two year agreement.
Sprint’s plan also includes:
- Variable month pricing based on the number of minutes you actually use
- Free long distance and nationwide roaming on the Sprint Nationwide PCS Network
- Unlimited night and weekend minutes beginning at 7 pm (or 6 pm for $10/month)
Furthermore, Sprint also offers various pricing options for its ‘Sprint Power Vision Network’ which includes Sprint TV, streaming Live News Channel, streaming radio channel with Sirius Hits for $15 per month. For an additional $5 you can also include unlimited Picture and Video Mail and for yet another $5 you can add even more TV channels.
Verizon’s lowest priced ‘PDA/Smartphone Voice & Data Choice Bundles’ plan which also includes ‘unlimited data’ (a must with the Treo 700p) starts at $79.99 for 450 voice minutes and rises to $169.99 per month with 4000 minutes. The price of the Verizon Wireless Treo 700p is also $399 with a two year agreement and the included unlimited data plan.
Verizon’s PDA/Smartphone plan also includes:
- Unlimited IN Calling—call any Verizon Wireless customer anywhere, anytime, without using any of your minutes
- Unlimited night and weekend minutes
- Unlimited data usage (see which regions offer BroadbandAccess)
Verizon also offers another plan called ‘America’s Choice National Plans’ but I would personally not bother with this one as the first offers much better value with its included unlimited data (priced on its own at $49.99). Also, Verizon Wireless price for existing customers is actually $499 with two year contract whether new or extending. So if you're planning on going with Verizon and don't already have a contract, you're better off buying direct from Palm for the "$399 with new contract" price. [Thanks Tina]
Congratulations to all the lucky Treonauts who are currently on either Sprint or Verizon Wireless (or thinking of switching) who will be the very first (Cingular’s version is expected late in Q3) to taste the beauty of the Treo 700p’s high speed wireless connectivity as well as the many other benefits that it offers to those upgrading from the Treo 650. Mine is already on the way and I’m happy as a bunny…
[Updates] Palm is also offering a free 1GB SD memory card (valued at $99.99) to all existing Treonauts upgrading to the Treo 700p valid until June 11. Also, please note that the Treonauts Shop now includes all Treo 700p accessories – just ‘Select Your Treo’ in the top left pull-down menu. Finally, to celebrate the arrival of the Treo 700p I have created a 20% Off Coupon valid until May 31 across all applications in the Treonauts Software Store. Simply enter the promotion code TOP100 in your cart.
Treonauts are always in a cheerful mood…

I ordered the Sprint Treo 700p from Palm this morning, and used my Palm Developers connection ID to get $100 off. It was $549, no tax, and overnight shipping.
I ordered a 700p from VerizonWireless online this morning. They told me that I should have it in 3-5 business days.
One additional note: I called a local Verizon Wireless store and the sales person told me they will be available in the stores on June 1st.
"Prices start as low as $399 for people keeping their existing mobile phone plan with either carriers and $619 to $649 for those wishing to keep their existing mobile phone plan."
I don't get it. Is this information from the Department of Redundancy Dept.?
"$399 for people keeping their existing mobile phone plan with either carriers and $619 to $649 for those wishing to keep their existing mobile phone plan."
haha i was going to post the exact same thing. what da!@#$$
If you buy the phone from Verizon, you can get what's called the Advanced Data Plan discount. Basically, you get $100 of instantly if you sign up for one of the plans with unlimited data, which you would probably get anyway.
I know you can get this from the company owned stores when it hits the stores, and I've also known people to get this ordering over the phone. I don't know if you get this by ordering online but I don't see why you wouldn't.
I know some people who have ordered this direct from Verizon and they have been told to expect it in a few days.
So perhaps ordering from Palm takes longer, but Verizon appears to have plenty in stock in their warehouses.
Will we be able to use the Palm charge/sync dock that was for the Treo 650 with the Treo 700P? Perhaps you can tell us what accessories (Just a few if there are too many to mention) that were compatible with the Treo 650 and will also be compatible with the 700. Thanks!
Based on everything that I have read, it does not look like the 700 units sold by Verizon will come with the live TV capability, am I correct? If this is so, what software can we buy to add this feature to Verizon phones, if any? I seem to remember reading about a couple before, but I am unsure. . .
I thought Mr. Treonauts was based in UK. How is he getting a CDMA phone to work there??
Blake, all of your current Treo 650 accessories will work with the Treo 700p.
Ron - Mr. Treonauts is based pretty much everywhere these days including naturally the US where he will be absolutely delighted to play with his new Treo 700p... ;-)
Cheers, A.
If you try buying the 700p for Verizon through the Palm website you can only choose Sprint plans . . . .
Thanks for all the info, I am about to buy my first Treo (going from a simple phone and a an old Clie) and your site helped guide me
I ordered my treo 700p on Monday and they told me it would ship same day. Then I called yesterday and they told me that they were expecting the shipment in sometime in the afternoon. I called this morning and they said they still haven't received the shipment and they have no additional information.
I WANT MY TREO!
Addendum to the above post:
I ordered my 700p from Verizon Wireless Online.
Update on my Verizon online order....
When I ordered on Monday, the confirmation message told me that it would ship in 3-5 business days; knowing that the Palm site had Verizon on a three to four week delay, I called Verizon cust service for a more accurate estimate. The nice gentleman I spoke to hadn't even realized the 700p was available yet, then tried to tell me that the warehouse showed they had "hundreds".... Oops, no sorry, he's looking at the 700w.... the "p" isn't showing at all.
Ok, so now I figure I'm back to the 3 or 4 week estimate. No problem, I can be patient (mostly). BUT...
This morning I got a "your order has shipped" notice from Verizon! My 700p is on a FEDEX truck due to attempt delivery by 3pm TODAY!!!!!
Of course, no one will be home, and I won't be able to get to the FEDEX site tonight to get it so I won't actually see it until tomorrow afternoon, but I'm thrilled just knowing it's that close!
So keep the faith brothers and sisters and hopefully yours will arrive just as quickly.
Happy Treo-ing!
My treo 700p from Verizon Wireless has arrived at my house!! Yay! I can´t wait to leave work to go home and set it up!!!
The 700p is still a strikeout for me. From what I've been able to gather on the reviews and descriptions, voice-command/activated dialing via Bluetooth (like my Motorola 710 cellphone) isn't builtin to the 700p. When will Palm quit making decent devices and make GREAT devices?
Got it! Love it!! Still learning how to use it (it's my first treo)
Rep at Sprint just reported that they will not have any in the stores until June 4th.
Anyone know if you order from the Palm website, are you eligible later for the $150 Sprint rebate for being a long-time customer?
Any insights would be appreciated.
I've got a Sprint 650. The headphone quality due to drops is only fair, and I'm thinking about upgrading. Does anybody already have a Sprint service 700? Specifically, I'm very curious to know about the higher speed browsing. Does the basic Vision package get you the highspeed browsing?
