A Simple Fix For My JX10 BT Headset Clip
As regular Treonauts will already know, my favourite Bluetooth headset is the Jabra JX10 (see my review Jabra JX10 Bluetooth Headset: Absolutely Stunning) that I have been using for over six months and which has since become one of the top 3 bestselling headsets for the Treo (particularly after it was recently reduced from $149.95 to $99.95).
I absolutely love the design of the JX10 and have been extremely pleased using it with my Treo 650 and now Treo 700p (when I’m in the US). However there was just one thing that had been driving me increasingly more annoyed and which I finally had to fix today.
My issue had to do with the JX10’s two fitting options. The first allows you to fit the headset directly in your ear (above left) with no other attachment and the second allows you to use a removable over-the-ear clip (above right). In my case the in-ear fit never managed to keep the headset properly in place and it kept falling off so I simply added the over-the-ear clip which in my opinion provides a much more comfortable fit.
However, when placed in a bag or pocket the removable ear clip had an annoying habit of getting detached and so every time I needed to quickly answer a call I had to re-attach the ear clip… After this happened once again yesterday I decided that the time had finally come to seek a remedial solution.
I went out to buy a tube of Krazy glue, applied six drops of the super glue to the removable ear clip (top right dots in green), fitted it to the headset and held it firmly in place for 30 seconds… Result: I now have exactly what I was looking for: a non-removable over-the-ear fitted Jabra JX10 Bluetooth headset… Considering how simple the solution proved to be I wonder why I waited this long to get it fixed…
Treonauts always focus on finding solutions…

[IMG=/afte... [Read More]

I had the same problem. What I did was take off the little rubber cover on the earpiece, and put on one of the old Jabra eargels (from a wired headset). Had to cut down the piece just slightly, but it works great now, without an earclip at all!
I had same problem I didn't know what to do so I just used it without a ear clip kept falling and eventually it fell of in a glass of water at diner very embarrassed so know I am with a jabra with the interchangeable faces much better goes with any mood :)
Andrew, you should switch to Plantronics 510, and all your problems will go away, not to mention the fact that people will hear you much better...
I have tested about 10 headsets with my treo 650, and concluded that the P 510 is the best, with Nokia BH-900 a close second.
The headsets that place your mouth where your ear is all sound hollow, (albeit usable, and people will put up with them).
But the 510 absolutely rocks...
Be careful the Clips do break. I have had to replace 1 The wire is not as bendable as you think. Jabra will send replacements No Charge, but how do get adhered ones off?
Yes, my clip broke as well. I'd classify it as a fatigue break. Jabra rep said that he'd mail me a few spares at no charge..still waiting after five weeks. Where can I purchase..other than Jabra?
This is off topic, but I just talked to a sprint tech support guy, and in the process of fixing some of the problems I had with VersaMail, he mentioned Treo 750, that Sprint is coming out with it in the next few months. The only detail he could give was that it'll be Palm-based. He also said that there will be no Treo 700w on Sprint :(
So, the next thing will likely be Treo 750 from Sprint !...
I read this post *seconds* after applying duct tape to the earhook on my SE HBH-660. I also considered superglue but chickened out at the last moment.
The duct tape is defintely less pretty, but at least the silver matches the 660.
It appears per your pictures, that one of the reasons yours kept falling off was because you didnt have the 2nd lip. It appears your lip on the top prong is broken off. I see the lip on the bottom prong, but not the top prong. That would definitely cause it to fall off a lot. Did it possibly break off?
I had a Logitech mobile boom 2.5mm unit lying around and used the gel from it to fit perfectly around the Jabra. Holds it in my ear perfectly and there are 4 different sized gels that come with the boom.
Just Deals has them for $5.99 complete (makes a great backup corded mic) with free shipping: http://www.justdeals.com/Items/980190-0403_NR.
Here's a search on froogle for more places: http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=logitech+mobile+boom&btnG=Search
Hey, just curious how you'd rate the new Palm™ 3265WW Ultralight Wireless Headset compared to the stunning Jabra JX10...if you have time. Thanks!
Just got my treo 700p. hsve side mount magnetic close holster. Phone rings and when I go to pull it out, it automatically goes to VM before I can even get to screen. Any help would be appreciated!
My Jabra x10 rubber boot on the ear piece fell off "lost"! How can I get a replacement?
As a rebuttal to Response #3, there's a reason people pick the JX10 over the more conventional earpieces: they don't want something that looks like a little robo-weiner or a chrome jellybean hanging off of the side of their face. Duh...
The JX10 rules, discreetly. End of story.
Nice Dan. I have the JX10 and my buddy has the jellybean. He not only looks like an idiot, he thinks he is frickin SWAT calling out sniper shots with that stupid thing on. Yeah, the JX10 breaks an eear loop every, what, 3 months. For $3 a loop, $13 a year, I'll suffer, BUT LOOK GOOD DOING IT!!!
