Say Hello to the Treo 750!

So, now we finally get to know that the Treo codenamed “Lennon” (running Windows Mobile) will be officially called Treo 750 (see screenshot above right) and released by Cingular very soon (possibly within the next 6 weeks) sporting UMTS and HSPDA – all with no antenna...

As previously posted, it appears very likely that Cingular will simultaneously release the Treo 750 with both a PalmOS (see “Nitro”) and Windows Mobile.

Any word on other companies (i.e. Sprint) releasing the 750?

Chris - unfortunately no news yet on the Sprint front but a Windows Mobile Treo 'should' be coming its way any time now...

Cheers, A.

I would also love to see this phone get picked up by Sprint. I'm a long time Treo user. I've had a 650 now for what seems like ages. I made the decision to skip a generation and it looks like the wait for the 750 will pay off! Can't wait!

Dang it. I just bought a damned Treo 700p. but I suppose Sprint won't have this for some time anyway.

Question: seeing as this will have UMTS/HSPDA, will this even be released in all markets, or only those with UMTS/HSPDA?

Right now Cingular's 3G network is not very widespread, and I cannot imagine them turning on large portions of it in the next 6 weeks or so.

Also, Cingular has so many cutting edge phones coming out with only EDGE support (like the new Moto KRZR and the Blackberry Pearl) that one has to assume that Cingular does not anticipate having anywhere near full 3G coverage for the critical holiday season.

I am taking back my LG CU500 tomorrow, going back to my battered Treo 650, and waiting on this device!

well, I believe I was the first one to mention Treo 750 on this site, but no one seemed to notice... And I got the "750" name from a Sprint tech guy. So, if the name "750" turned out to be true, maybe it's also true that Sprint will carry it instead of (or in addition to) the 700w...

Cheers...

sorry, Mindflayer, I don't think we will see the 750 for sprint anytime soon. I just updated the latest sprint connection manager, and found the latest phone on there is Palm 700wx. I know W stands for Windows Mobile, but what is x??? Anyone?

Ok, did I get this correctly: There's going to be an UMTS Windows version and a GSM PalmOS version. The PalmOS version, which is the only option for me, has a drastically reduced battery size, a VGA camera and no WLAN. Guess they're trying to produce the world's worst Smartphone here :-(((
Look at the P990i if you wanna see a good product. Ok, the keyboard seems to be worse than the Treo's. But who is going to buy a smartphone just because of the good keyboard if all the rest is ****?

Sprint will not be getting the 750, at least not right away. Sprint will be releasing a "remixed" version of the 700w. It will be called the "700wx" it is being reported that it will have double the memory of the 700w and a few other differences. It is due to be released by 8/31

i'm glad sprint won't be getting it for a loooong time. you guys got the 700w and 700p and cingular didn't. so now you just have to wait like how we all had to wait.

Strangely nobody ever talks about the iPAQ hw6915. Which to me has the most complete feature set amongst smartphones. Quad band GSM, 1.3mpixel camera, WiFi and GPS. Now that is the minimum spec I want for my next Treo!

I'm a fan of Qtek 9000. It has 64 MB RAM, SD card, WiFi, GSM 3G, VGA 640x480 display, large keyboard, 1.3 Mpixel camera, secondary camera for 3G videoconference, large keyboard, Windows Mobile 5...

It's also called HTC Universal or XDA Executive

So is the 750 (Palm os) just a 700p without an antenna?

17
by Andrew | Aug 10, 2006 9:30:31 PM

kris - yes, in all likelihood the Treo 750 will share 'most' if not all of the specifications of the Treo 700p (but with no antenna).

Cheers, A.

I think the HTC TyTN is a true beauty if you want windows mobile.

It has 320x240 when compare to Treo 750
Dual mode UMTS, and Quadband, EDGE meaning you will not only be able to use 3G and GSM network here in the states, but everywhere else in the world. This is a true world phone.

Wifi (b/g), bluetooth 2.0, 2 mega pixel camera and slightly smaller and slimmer than the current Palm 650/700p w/o the Antenna. Anything else I'm missing? Oh, and you have an extra camera for video calls where the Treo 750 will lack. Wait, why am I trying to sell this phone? Don't I own sh_t load of PALM shares!!! urghhh...why is PALM so behind???? How are they going to compete in the WM5 space, when there are much better options like HTC TyNT, and just to name a few.

But of course, I am not liking the price. Does anyone know of any cheaper place?

Hi- I'm truly a neophyte treonaut though I'm a huge palm fan.

I have 650- GSM unlocked. Love it except for storage capacity. I've been eagerly checking this site for updates on when another GSM version with more memory will be available and now I'm confused.

The new 750 - will that be GSM? Are edge and the other related acronyms the new GSM? I have tmobile and I just want a phone that will work w/tmobile and has more memory... which of the upcoming phones will give me that?

thanks- confused neophyte....

neophyte treonaut - yes, the new Treo 750 will be GSM. EDGE, UMTS and HSPDA are acronyms that refer to Cingular and other carriers' high-speed wireless data networks.

I hope this helps.

Cheers, A.

Great site always great discussions! Still like the bolg better than the new format but maybe thats just being used to it. Question. There is a little confusion in my mind on the 'treo 750p' will it be 2.5G or 3G??? I know the 'treo 750w' will be all of that but you do not seem to have been very clear about similar capabilities for the '750p'? Maybe there is no info on this yet? Thanx again for a great site /fb

Oh yah. another thing for the guy who really liked the SE 990i. If he has ever tried it he'll notice that it is still as SLOWWWWW as the old SE 910i if not slower!!! So go ahead and be impressed by SE's huge feature set but do not be fooled to think this makes the phone more desirable after a week of use!! PLEASE GET ME MY TREO 650 BACK!! The poor thing was lot at sea....snivel, snivel! /fb
