RB1 Rubberized Fit Treo Case Review

For all those Treonauts who have been jealous of the few (like me ) who managed to get one of Palm’s Black Tie Limited Edition Treo 650 there is now a simple and reasonable alternative in the form of the RB1 Rubberized Fit case below which is one of the latest Treo cases to have been added in our Treo Accessory Shop.

The RB1 case is essentially a hard and thin plastic case (very similar to the CrystalCase) which has been sprayed with a rubber coating available in four colours below.

The main difference compared to the CrystalCase are the side clips which hold the two layers together (pictured below).  Where some people found the clips on the CrystalCase not to be strong enough, the RB1 clips latch very firmly into place to protect your Treo thanks to their particular design.

Once your Treo is firmly ‘sandwiched’ between the two layers the RB1 case offers excellent protection against scratches and an additional safety net in case of a drop to the ground.  The edges of the case are slightly too raised around the keyboard for my liking but it nonetheless does not significantly interfere with daily use of the keys.  Additionally, access to the top SD card and mute button, the bottom HotSync port, camera and speakers are all properly open.

Finally, the back of the RB1 features a removable belt clip but my preference would be to use the Skinned Shield Holster instead because 1) I find a holster to be one of the most comfortable ways to carry my Treo; 2) it protects my screen by facing inwards instead of outwards and 3) the black on black look of the RB1 combined with the holster is absolutely stunning…

Overall, if you’re looking for a great, simple and affordable way to protect your Treo while transforming it with a rubberized look then there’s no doubt that you will be absolutely delighted with the new RB1 Rubberized Fit case.

Treonauts are always looking for the perfect fit

This looks like just what I need. Any chance it'll work with the Treo 600 without the use of an acetylene torch?
I hope so!

any chance they make one of these cases without the belt clip latch on the back? I would like it to be smooth to make it easier to slide in and out of a pouch.

I would consider one without the belt clip too. Would probably be cheaper as well.

I have the skinned holster with the crystal case and the holster catches on top of the case when I take it out. Anyone else have this problem

I would probably buy one if it were more like the crystalcase... where it didn't have the belt clip adapter in the back... i prefer the pocket over the holster or belt clip

I'm also with the rest of the group in thinking the clip makes it look ugly. Guess the smartphone "experts" should have done a poll before they decided to manufacture this case.

I have been waiting for some more information on this case since I saw it on ebay. However, judging from the photos, this case doesn't seen to have a cutout for the microphone at the bottom!?! I would really like to know how this affects speech quality.

Palm really should release all of their forthcoming Treos with a rubber-like coating without commanding an absolutely unjustified price premium. The fact that they didn't do so with the 700p is just plain stupid, ignorant and very customer-unfriendly. The slippery feel of my naked 650 is what I hate the most about it.

Strange, why did my post appear under the name of tre05 MIA ?

Sign me up for the clipless model. Course, considering the little crash I has with my Treo recently, I may just buy this one until the clipless model comes out.

Eric, Ronin - I also prefer not to have a belt clip on the case but this model is only available like this. However, I can tell you that there are at least three new cases coming out in the next few months that will be exactly what you are looking for.

Cheers, A.

I have this and after about a week, the rubber began to peel off, revealing the plastic beneath. Still a good case fit wise, but will not look good for long.

This is the first place that I have found posting capability. Where would I post the following question:

I am trying to transfer an mp3 file from my treo 650 to another type of phone via bluetooth. Is this even possible? If so, does anyone have any suggestions on how to do so? I'm guessing I would need some sort of file manager since I can only get to my mp3's when in real player. Thanks in advance for any help.

Bests,

Luigi

TREO700W has a litmus pad inside.
In battery compartment, remove battery and in corner is a small round white pad.

Get your Treo wet (enough) and this changes to red and gets fuzzy.

im sure this is a litmus pad as all of our other users Treo's are clean white.

Vzn will replace the unit according to manufacturers warranty, but not if it not covered w/ extra ins. & gets wet. They receive your return item in the mail and pop it open to check it and likely will invoice the device back to you after.

Just got this at the mall, hoping it would work with my 700w. It DID close, but the top seemed overly tight on the connecting bits...

I would have kept it but my brother stole it for his 650...I let him only bc the clip is hideous and sits out way too far on my belt.

Any idea when a 700 model will be coming out?

So this case does fit in the Seidio Shield Holster for skinned Treos?

Will this fit the 700p? Or is there a 700p option in the works. This is the exact type of case I am looking for!
