Cingular Treo 750: Available Sooner Than Expected?

There is now a significantly higher probability of seeing a GSM Cingular Treo 750 much sooner than expected as some areas of Palm’s website have already been uploaded with ‘hidden’ images such as the one above…

While navigating Palm’s website a Treonaut (thank you Kyle) was able to decipher the location of this Treo image by simply replacing the location of an existing Treo 750v file with that of the Treo 750.

Existing: http://images.palmgear.com/external/swc/treo750v.gif
Hidden: http://images.palmgear.com/external/swc/treo750.gif [Update: the image has now been ‘swiftly’ removed by Palm…]

For now (unfortunately) we only get to see a Windows Mobile version and not a PalmOS version but rumours are that Cingular will release _both_ operating systems.

Treonauts are always finding hidden things

Ummm ... $765 for an unlocked Vodafone branded Treo 750w.

Thanks for the link. My wallet just went on strike though! That price is very sobering ... like do I buy a new PC for my family or do I get a new cell phone. LOL.

I work for a cingular agent and we have already received our dummy phones of the 750 and 680 so we are expecting the phones very soon. Wish I had one already to start playing with and buy.

Well can't find any more info on dates but check this page out. They've already printed a rebate for the 750 which expires Dec 30. http://web.palm.com/promos/treo680_cingular_rebate_110506_123006.pdf

A friend of mine that work for Cingular told me that they will have the 750w by December 12.

Just left local Cingular store to inquire about 750. The rep said "I'm not suppose to say anything, but they are suppose to be out the first week of December (this week)...but definitely before Xmas.."

The cost is $500 with the $100 rebate for a two year contract total cost to be $400.

I know we've heard the release date a-million times before, but.......

My local Cing Rep told me Dec 5th. I am holding my breath. Been without my 650 (broke, my fault) for almost a month... holding out!!

I went into a Cingular store today and asked if they had the Treo 750. They said no, not until next month. Then I looked at the display and saw a dummy Treo 750. And I said "here is one" and the salesperson said, "no that's a 680" and I corrected her by explaining that the 680 didn't have windows mobile. She then pulled it out of my hand and told me that it should not be on display and locked it in a drawer. I don't know what this all means... The thing looked awesome.

I went to the Cingular store today and they didn't know what I was talking about. I almost walked away, but then I got her to check some paperwork and she told me "wow, there is a treo 750, but it looks like we are expecting it around January 9th" I just about convinced her that I need it ASAP, she checked with her manager and he thinks it will be later than that.

I hope Palm sells an unlocked verion on their website, just like the 680. I also hope it's really soon. Like before Xmas.

if it is for cingular, and verizon uses different radio signals does that mean it won't work with t-mobile either? who can answer this

41
by Eric Walker | Dec 16, 2006 11:48:49 PM

It will work for T-mobile. T-Mobile and Cingular are GSM.

42
by Eric Walker | Dec 16, 2006 11:49:47 PM

It just has to be unlocked to use it on T-Mobile if it's branded for cingular or vodafone.

I went to a number of Cingular stores today and received a different answer on when the 750 will be available in every store. Everything from this week to March. It's amazing that Cingular can't get on the same page and be consistant. One store had a non functioning unit, but had no clue on the release date.

check ebay. if you have a deep enough wallet there are a number of them unlocked for any GSM carrier at around $750 USD.

Hi All,
I just purchased the 680 and love it, I was a Nextel user for years and had their i930 w/ Windows Mobile 5.0 - I found the Palm OS easy to adapt to (so far)..... Here's a list of product differences betwen the 680 and the 750, that I found from the Palm (UK) website, they look the same to me - less a few OS features. =)

Can anyone confirm if it's even possible to change the OS on a 680 to Windows?
