Palm Treo 680 & 750 FCC Approvals (Finally) Received
This past Wednesday the FCC approved the Treo 750 and just a couple of days later on Friday also followed with the approval of the Treo 680.
This FCC approval for both Treo smartphones evidently means that Cingular can now finally officially begin to ship these. The relatively late approvals probably also indicates the real reason behind the ‘delay’ in the launch of the Treo 680 which had originally been rumoured to be released at the end of October or beginning of November.
Neither Palm nor Cingular have yet offered an ‘official’ release date for either the Treo 680 or Treo 750 (though we do know that the 680 will be released before the 750) but the most recent rumour mill gives us a range of Nov. 14 to Nov. 24 so at least there won’t be much longer to wait…

PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ....Im going TREONUTSO over here....I need the 750 now!
So, do you think the 680 will be available the same time through Palm as it is through Cingular? Also, any new word on a 750p version coming out?
The wait has been long and boring, the suspense is killing me, it is frustrating, dissapointing and tiring. Palm Treo 680 where are you?
According to Brighthand.com (http://www.brighthand.com/default.asp?newsID=12599), Cingular is holding a press conference on Monday. They could annoucne the 680. Can anyone else confrim this?
I'm confused, why do people want to have 750P if 680 is coming out? what are the difference between the two excluding memory size? You're hoping to get 3G? I think Someone already confirmed that 3G will not work on current POS Code. I really don't get it!!!
I'm dieing for my Treo 680! Would a good estimate for it coming out be this week?!
I think they mean the 750V... which should be the windows version... I hope not, I want a 750PPPPPP, if not then i'd settle for the 680 for now... my 650 is old...
I was told by the Palm Store that the 680 will be in Stores 12/5/06 (This was the Palm Store @ the grove in LA).
fyi.
I have heard SOOOO MANY rumors about release dates from Cingular employees that I am just going to stop listening. It will be here when it gets here I guess....GRRRRRRRRRR
Just spoke with a Cingular rep today she told me 680 will be available in 3 weeks...
Close to "minkie"'s 12/5/06 info...
Man!!!I'm worn out, it's not exiciting but annoying at this point.....
I hear you on the annoyed stuff. Im about to just get an unlocked 750 on ebay. I dont care about the price at this point.....GRRRRRRRR
I just spoke to a cingular rep and he pulled out his pricing sheet and it said the treo 680 would be available....
...Well, you fill in the blank. I guess it doesn't matter because I think that they don't have any better idea than we do.
It better come soon because I'm becoming really bored with the lack of info. I need a new treo and the taunting by the Verizon guy in his kiosk is starting to sway me. I don't travel internationally any more, my current phone is broken, my contract is up, I have cash, Evdo has better coverage, so why not? Well, since I like Cingular's gsm, I'll give them two more weeks.
It's just a phone right? At least that's what my wife asks me...
InTheKnow- the 20th would be a saturday? would they release a phone on a saturday? Just wondering.
Not sure what I was looking at when I wrote 11/20...
11/24 is the date for the 680.
CDMA versions would be the 700p and 700w/wx...
The 680 and 750 are "catch up" devices although they have had the luxury of allowing the CDMA carriers to discover and deal with many of the bugs
It's official! It's out! $199 with a new plan, $399 without. Only in graphite from Cingular, 4 color choices from Palm.com. Still no word on the 750...
Available right now at palm 's official us website. Buy it unlocked ffrom palm for $399 or activate a wireless plan with cingular for $199.00
