Palm Leather Treo Holster Review
It’s been quite a while since we last saw Palm releasing a Treo case but now the company brings us its new universal Treo Leather Holster which fits all Treo models including the 680, 650 and 700.
The new Palm Leather Holster above is a rather interesting and elegant case – somewhat similar to the Nutshell Natural Leather Case – with a very thick and high quality moulded Nappa leather construction which provides full protection for your Treo. Like the Nutshell case the Palm Leather Holster does not need a latch since it offers just the right amount of pressure to securely hold your Treo in place – something which makes it easier and faster to retrieve your smartphone to make or receive a call.
The Palm Leather Holster is specifically designed to fit your Treo with the screen facing inwards for added protection (above right) while the front leather cutout is designed to leave enough space for the back speaker to ring at full volume when a call comes in.
The bottom part of the holster meanwhile leaves space for the stereo jack. At first I thought that it would not be easy or convenient to use my Treo in the holster with a corded headset but I was pleasantly surprised to find that as long as the jack is inserted at a perpendicular angle with the cord facing the screen you can actually perfectly insert and remove your Treo while listening to music for example.
The belt clip offers full 360 degree rotation with 12 locking positions. I was initially disappointed by the relatively thick profile of the belt clip but slowly learned to understand why it had been designed this way – it’s specifically 1) to avoid having your Treo too close to your body and 2) to more easily insert/remove your Treo using your thumb and forefinger over the front speakerphone and top back of the smartphone.
I have to say that I’m extremely pleased and impressed with the new Palm Treo Leather Holster. The more I use it the more I enjoy it and it is likely now going to become my preferred clip case to complement my clip-less UltraSlim Pocket Pouch.
Overall the Leather Holster is extremely well built, offers premium Nappa leather, is very convenient to use, elegant to wear and at $24.95 it also happens to offer terrific value – particularly compared to the Nutshell which is priced $54.95. If you’re looking for a way to carry your Treo ‘naked’ I can very highly recommend this case.
Treonauts are always looking for high quality…

Have you tried this case with the new "fat" battery?
Thanks,
-barry
Barry - yes I have. It fits perfectly fine - just even more tightly than with the normal battery. Over time the leather will expand a little and the fit should be even better.
Cheers, A.
Lost my 650 last week in Jerusalem. Received 680 from Cingular today. I have two new larger 650 batteries that fit in the 680 but, the cover won't accomodate the larger size. Is an accessorie cover available that will accomodate the larger battery? I travel international (a lot) and carry several back-up batteries. Any leads appreciated (I've been looking in the net for over an hour)
Andrew- Sorry to post this questions under this review, but I was just wonering if you have heard if there will be any Blackberry Connect software coming out for the new Treo 680? My company is strictly Blackberry, but I am in love with the Treo!
Thanks and cheers!
Would the Treo (700w) fit inside with the Smartphone experts Ultra Slim Skin case?
John-
Seideo just announced that they are selling a new, longer life battery (2400 mAh) with the new case back for the Treo 680. I don't know if they will sell the caseback only. The URL is: http://www.seidioonline.com/index.asp
I hope this helps.
With no way to "lock" the Treo in AND a swivel clip, do you feel like the Treo is in danger of falling out? Is the fit as loose as the ultra-slim case?
Kevin - no, I don't feel that there is a danger of your Treo falling out of this case. There is a 'firm' hold in it unlike the UltraSlim case.
I hope this helps.
Cheers, A.
Andrew, I just received my new Palm Treo Leather Holster and like its style. The problem I am having is that when I put my Treo 700p in the case it turns on. I set the timer to 15 seconds for the light to go off. That works ok. Maybe it's because it is brand new.
Need a leather case for the TREO 750...does this one one work...is there a better choice for the 750?
I just bought this case and am having problems. Upon receiving a call the red on/off button gets pressed when I revove the phone from the case, causing me to lose the call. I tried using the lock feature but the red off button still gets pressed when I remove the phone from the case. Any ideas ?
