SPE Rubberized Black SliderCase Treo 700 Case Review
Following my post last month introducing the new SPE SliderCase – a spectacular sliding Treo hard case currently designed specifically for the Treo 700 but hopefully soon becoming available for all Treo models – I’m glad to announce that the SliderCase Rubberized Black is now finally also available.
As I mentioned in my initial review, I consider the SliderCase to without a doubt be the best designed hard case that I have used to date. Additionally, I found the Rubberized Black to be the most elegant, appealing and practical of the three variations (also available in Clear and Glossy White) providing additional grip thanks to the natural properties of the rubber coating.
The Treo 700 slides smoothly inside the case and is held firmly in place thanks to two side rubber bands on the interior (above).
Once snugly inserted, the SliderCase provides easy access to all ports, buttons, speakers and camera (images above).
An important additional distinction when compared to many other hard cases is the fact that the SliderCase features a low profile all around the keyboard which provides you with complete and easy access to all of the keys – a small but important detail that so many other case manufacturers fail to take into account.
Finally, to provide even further protection the SliderCase includes a removable clear front snap-on cover that attaches via two small pins on either side of the keyboard. [Note: There is a small trick to quickly snapping the cover into place which involves first alligning the top left pin and then simply pressing on the cover at the point of the top right pin – it takes less than a second once you get the hang of it.]
Overall I can’t say enough good things about the SliderCase – it’s a case that is undoubtedly one of my favourites for its looks, protection and very unique design. Additionally, now that it’s on special offer at only $23.95 (20% off the regular $29.95 price) it’s also terrific value. Now if only they’d release one for my Treo 680…
UPDATE: I’ve just received very good news [thanks Peter] that a universal Treo 680/750 SliderCase (CAD image below) will soon also become available and it will have the added benefit of a removable belt clip as well (I prefer it without though).
Treonauts always look for something new…

Any idea on what "available soon for 680" means? I am anxious to get one for my 680.
Thanks!

is it true that this case does not have a hole for the LED, how was that forgotten....?
Will this case fit into the Seidio "skinned" holster?
Thanks,
Barry
I want the one for the 700 with a belt clip. Without it I have no way to carry my Treo on my belt!
Steve - I estimate that the Treo 680/750 SliderCase will become available in 4 to 6 weeks...
tone - yes, you're absolutely right, the designers 'missed' to add the LED hole...
Barry - unfortunately this case will not fit the skinned holster.
Matt - it's possible that a version for the 700p with a belt clip will also become available.
Cheers, A.
Do you think they will come out with a case for the 650 as well? Thanks.
Andrew,
Will the clip be the wratchet type (ie. to allow vertical and horizontal wearing of the case). If so, you have a customer! If it's a swivel-clip, I can't use it.
Here is a thread which includes my impressions on this product! I wanna love it, but I am torn and as a result, living with my Seidio UltraSlim Rubberized case. Great idea...just minor improvements from perfection IMHO!
