Treo 755p For Sprint In Burgundy & More Colours?

Treo 755p Burgundy

Thanks to an anonymous tipster and following Friday’s first leaked Sprint Treo 755p images we now get a high resolution image (apparently taken from a Sprint database) of this next Treo smartphone sporting a distinct “Burgundy” colour.

From this I can only assume that Palm and Sprint have been working together to come up with a range of at least four unique Treo 755p colours [now available to buy] similar to those released by Cingular/AT&T with the Treo 680 available in Silver, Arctic (White), Crimson (Red) and Copper (Orange).  I guess that existing Treo 680 accessories such as the 2400mAh extended battery and UltraSlim PocketPouch will have to be updated with new colours soon…

I am curious to find out what the two remaining (or more) Treo 755p colours might be but for now I have to admit that I very much like the original “Dark Blue” (very similar to the Windows Mobile Treo 750 also offered by Cingular) and this new “Burgundy” will undoubtedly appeal to those Treonauts looking to stand out from the crowd with a unique colour.

As I mentioned in my previous posts, it is anticipated that this Treo 755p will be released by Sprint by mid-May or shortly thereafter.

Separately, I would also like to highlight a recent statement made by Merrill Lynch analyst Vivek Arya pointing out that he believes that “the smartphone industry is verging on a sales explosion”.  While I naturally fully agree with this view I am somewhat baffled to then learn that he believes that “RIM is uniquely positioned to benefit from a multi-year acceleration in smartphone sales” while not making a similar statement about Palm which will in my opinion enjoy the same if not more benefits.

Additionally, speaking about Palm’s forthcoming “Investor Day” in New York next Tuesday April 10 where the company is expected to illustrate its strategic roadmap, the same analyst pointed out that planning a meeting with analysts “seems inconsistent with an imminent takeout announcement” – a statement which helped to halt the unfounded rumours of a Palm merger or acquisition.

I don’t expect Palm to make a Treo 755p announcement next week in NYC but I do fully anticipate a much clearer picture of the company’s direction and product roadmap emerging – something that many investors have been extremely keen for Palm’s management to outline in order to upgrade their outlook on the company.

I'm assuming Verizon will get the 755p eventually. Any idea what that timetable will be?

Andrew--beyond the fact that the 680 was launched in 4 colors and Cingular/AT&T has picked them up, do you have anything on which to base the claim of 4 colors for the 755?

Sprint may want fewer colors with the certainty that they'll be exclusive to Sprint. Look at the 650--it's easy to eyeball a Sprint one from any angle based on the color. For any other 650 (except Black Tie), one needs to see the front.

Somebody can help me answering a question:
Are there limite for the duration of videos made with palm treo 650 ?
If I put on it a SD memory 2 GB it will record video until the memory ends?

An earlier rumor pointed to two colors, the dark blue and the burgundy.

Comparing the Engadget rear photo to my 680, the 755 has a smaller card slot with the IR port next to it, like the 750. So it's probably miniSD.

So you get the 3G CDMA radio of the 700p, with the software (I assume) of the 680, in the body of the 750.

The real question is if that IM app bundled with the phone will replace the functionality of Verichat. I'll wait and see.

Any idea if it is going to have the same clunky memory problems and bluetooth issues as the 700p does ?

Anyone have any idea if sprint is coming out with a windows mobile version of this phone too? What was the time table between the release of the 700p and the 700wx?

Will the 755p update to the Linux OS?
