Treo Stylus | Smartphone Experts Pen Stylus & Solid Stylus Review
Following my Palm Pen Stylus review for the Treo 680 and 750 a few months ago, there are now two additional Treo stylus models that have been released.
Smartphone Experts Solid Stylus (Silver, Gold, Pink)
Although the benefits of having an integrated Treo pen stylus are sometimes very obvious (see Saved By My Treo Pen Stylus) the fact is that I have personally found these to either be a little too light (only 3 grams) or not sturdy enough (such as the standard Treo 680/750 stylus which bends too easily for my liking).
This Smartphone Experts Solid Stylus (also available as a Treo 750 solid stylus) is cast as a single piece with a plastic tip to ensure that your screen is not scratched (I always recommend a Treo screen protector though) and also feels a lot better in my hand thanks to a more reasonable weight of some 6 grams. Additionally, the fact that this pack offers three separate colours allows you to give your Treo a unique and distinctive character.
Smartphone Experts Pen Stylus
Although this Smartphone Experts Pen Stylus (also available as a Treo 750 pen stylus) remains extremely lightweight at only 3 grams it nonetheless offers a more robust overall feel in your hand (compared to the Palm pen stylus) thanks a solid aluminium body instead of plastic. The pen itself is easily accessed by simply removing the top of the stylus.

Ok, I like the new metal stylus and definitely want one, but there's no way I'm going to buy a pack with 3 different colors when I only want the silver. Unless they're going to release a 3 pack of silver styluses, they can forget it.
Does the Smartphone Experts Solid Stylus (Silver, Gold, Pink) has built in pen too or it's just a solid heavier Stylus
The big problem with the official Palm pen stylus for the 680/750 isn't that it's too flimsy, IMO, but rather that there's only like 1/2 inch of ink. It's not 2 pieces (the stylus body containing a pen, and a screw-on cap for the plastic stylus tip) -- it's 3 pieces (a long flimsy solid plastic piece, then a 1/2 inch piece which is the pen and inkwell, then the stylus tip). I'm afraid the ink won't last very long.
Doug - I'll keep you posted but it's quite possible that some new packs of single colours (3 silver, 3 gold or 3 pink) will become available next week... Like you I definitely feel that this is a great solid stylus.
Ju - the Solid Stylus does not have a pen.
