Macally USB Power Wall & Car Adapter Review
I’m not easily impressed but I have to admit that the new Macally USB Power Wall & Car Adapter is the best designed and nicest looking USB charging kit that I have come across to date.
The Macally USB Adapter kit includes (from left to right above) a compact rounded square Universal USB AC wall charger, four interchangeable plugs (US, Europe, UK and Australia) and also an elegant and futuristically shaped USB car charger. All individual pieces of the kit are extremely light while the polished black plastic used helps to make this a very appealing and elegant solution.
The wall charger features a large circular blue LED light around the USB socket which shines brightly when plugged in while the car charger features a small standard red LED dot when charging.
Inserting any of the interchangeable AC plugs into the wall charger is quick and easy – you simply push the plug in and press a side release button to remove it. Works great and looks great.
The Macally Adapter kit does not include a USB charging cable for your Treo or your Centro (just received my review unit today) but you can either use the one that came with your smartphone or alternatively choose my preferred SPE Retractable Sync & Charge cable (pictured above).
Overall the Macally USB Power Wall & Car Adapter is a more expensive than similar solutions such as the SPE Sync & Charge Bundle but personally the added benefit of its beautiful design as well as the four included international travel plugs make this an ideal choice for me.
Treonauts are always fully powered…

Now Andrew, you aren't showing us that pic of the Centro hookup in order to make us jealous are you? I can't wait to see what that looks like up close and personal. I'm trying to talk my wife into getting one, because I think she'd get some good use out of it.
How about, in addition to the usual marketing-style fluff, some hard data: Output Voltage, Rated Current. Some phones require more current than the minimum USB spec.
I used mine to charge my SanDisk mp3 player overnight. The next morning, the SanDisk battery was dead, not charged, rather the opposite of what I expected. The charger has an incredibly bright blue light that blinks, but you describe a steady blue light? I feel like I'm doing something wrong, but the whole deal seems idiot-proof. Any suggestions? Many thanks.
Wow! that stuff is pretty cool. Though expensive, it is still a wise buy. The gadgets will be very useful especially when you are travelling. NICE ONE!
