Palm Centro Now In Pretty Pink
As we announced back in December, Palm and Sprint have finally released their Pink Centro smartphone – an ideal Valentine gift for your girlfriend or wife next month… The Pink Centro is available now via Palm’s online store for as low as $99 with a two year Sprint contract or $399 without.
Nobody yet knows exactly just how many Centro units Palm has sold to date but most sources claim that it has been an incredible success and possibly the single bestselling Palm smartphone to date – it has evidently hit the mark and its $99 price undoubtedly helped as well. Clearly Sprint would not have added yet another color to its Centro lineup (see below) if it didn’t feel confident about its success (the Ruby Red Centro is actually completely sold out for now).
Moreover, Sprint also continues to strongly support the Centro with TV commercials running nationwide (see below or YouTube) as well as one of the best companion microsites that I have come across for a Palm product to date at www.moreyous.com which outlines “The joy of multitasking” with your Centro smartphone (check out the fun multitasking game in the Multiplex).
Clearly Sprint’s close working relationship with Palm has been paying off and I hope to see the same level of support from AT&T and Verizon when they finally release their own Centro models – hopefully in the coming weeks for the GSM version (see AT&T Centro).
Finally, to celebrate the arrival of this Pink Palm Centro we’ve created a 10% Off coupon that you can use for all your Treo accessories or Centro accessories. Simply enter the coupon code PRETTYPINK after Checkout in Billing Info (valid until 12 midnight PST on Thursday, January 17).
Treonauts are always the most colourful…

Yeahhhh I'll probably end up getting it for the wife. See, I'll get her this one to blind side her when I come home with the 800! Good for Palm! Keep on moving. Hopefully up though.
"Possibly the single bestselling smartphone to date?" That's funny, I have yet to see anyone with it. When the 650 came out, I saw the number of people in airports using it shoot up quickly. Since the Centro has been out, I have yet to see it as I pass through airports (airports, morning rush hour train stations, true gauges of mobile technology, imo). However if that's what the numbers say, so be it...I just hope they start pumping a chunk of that Centro money to 800 or whatever comes out with a new Palm OS!
Centro is for the youth or consumer market. While most people in the airport are business users, I am not surprised Centro isn't common among those users.
