Aquapac Waterproof Case Review
New Range of Aquapac Waterproof Cases for Treo & Centro Provide Complete Protection For Your Smartphone at the Beach & Outdoors
Aquapac is the world’s leading manufacturer of waterproof cases and I have been a huge fan since first getting one over two years ago. Its patented Aquaclip seal means that its cases offer an ideal solution to protect your Treo and Centro smartphone against “environmental damage” from dirt, dust, sand, water and oily sunscreen for example.
Since my original review back in 2006, Aquapac has now increased its range of available waterproof cases. The four models now available include the:
- Aquapac Handheld Case (Above left)
The slightly larger Handheld model fits all Treo and Centro smartphones and offers a large clear window at the front and back to see both your screen and keyboard. It provides complete waterproof protection up to a depth of 15 feet (5 meters) and includes an external stylus holder. - Aquapac Mini Case (Above right)
The Mini model is designed to provide a snug fit for the smaller Centro and new Treo 800w. It offers a clear rectangular window to view your screen and a translucent light blue plastic for easy access to your keyboard. This case also provides complete waterproof protection up to a depth of 15 feet (5 meters) and a LENZFLEX window on the back means that you'll be able to take photos right through the case. - Aquapac PRO Sports Case (Below left)
The high-end black PRO Sports model not only increases waterproof protection to 30 feet (10 meters) but also adds a convenient velcro band so that you can wear this case on your arm or thigh. Additionally, I like the large clear front face which provides full view to both your screen and keyboard. Finally, this case will fit all Treo and Centro smartphones. - Aquapac Form Fit Case (Below right)
Slightly larger than the Mini case, this Form Fit model offers a clear rectangular window to view your screen and a translucent light blue plastic with clear dots for easy access to your keyboard. This case also provides complete waterproof protection up to a depth of 15 feet (5 meters).
Aside from the particularities of each model above, Aquapac has also made a few design modifications that apply across all its cases. For starters, the waterproof plastic sheath is now even thinner and more maleable. Additionally, the patented Aquaclip Locking Closure System (pictured below) is slightly smaller than before and in a grey colour instead of the previous blue/yellow combination.
The tough but extremely thin plastic not only provides salt-water and UV protection but its thinness also means that you can still make and receive phone calls without removing your smartphone from the case (the microphone's sensitivity is somewhat reduced though).
As well as being 100% waterproof the Aquapac is also 100% airtight and dustproof. The airtight seal that the Aquaclip creates means that your smartphone will float safely (image above in the pool) if you drop it in the water while the waterproof and UV protection means that if you use any electronics in a marine environment (under continuous exposure to salt air) your smartphone will be fully protected against corrosion.
Overall, you will not find a better waterproof solution than the Aquapac range of Treo cases and Centro cases – they are elegant, extremely well designed and more importantly keep your smartphone completely clean and dry under any conditions.
Treonauts are always fully protected…

Just a question, here........apart from aesthetics (marginally different) how does this product differ, functionally, from a commercial ZipLock?
And, with the huge size (above photo looks like Treo embedded in life raft) why not go with an Otterbox?......No, the Otterbox is not a monster, not cumbersome, is very lightweight, and offers unparalleled impact protection. Nobody that I've heard call the Otterbox "huge" has (by admission) ever actually seen one.
Subjective, here, but I'll take the box over the bag.
Pete - major differences compared to ZipLock is the fact that the ZL is not 100% waterproof.
The Otterbox is great but it's much more expensive than the Aquapac + as you point out also much larger.
The Mini or PRO Sports Aquapac cases are perfectly small enough.
Cheers, A.
(...actually, I was referring to the size of the Aquapac... :) )
The 1921 (Treos 680 and 755p) can be had new for about $40.00.
