Centro Claus is Coming!

Palm Empowers “Centro Claus” To Better Manage The Holidays With Email, Text, IM, Voice and Web.  Say Hello To The New Santa…

Palm-Claus

Over the last couple of years I have complained a lot about Palm’s seemingly dismal marketing activities but I have to admit that the company’s latest “Centro Claüs” campaign is probably the best that I have seen from any consumer electronics manufacturer this year – as you can appreciate from the images here the campaign is modern, fun, edgy and ultra cool…

In a statement, Centro Claus explains how his new smartphone has changed his life:

“I functioned for centuries as a recluse, only emerging once a year under the cover of darkness to spread joy.  I was feeling a little down.  I spent all day staring out the window eating cookies.

But that all changed when I received a mysterious gift – a new Palm Centro. That was the moment when Santa became Claüs.  The phone inspired me to turn my life around, I got in shape, found a new tailor, it’s like I feel 30 years younger.

My operation is so streamlined now, I finally have time to get out and meet the world.  If you see me around town walking my reindeer, courtside at the Lakers game, or distributing holiday cheer at my mistletoe shop don’t be afraid to stop me and tell me your holiday wish.  But don’t try and sit on my lap, a fist bump will do.”

Among others Centro Claus has now upgraded his sled for the 21st century (above) to make it completely emissions free and thanks to his smartphone he’s also now found more spare time to relax a bit by the pool…

He’s also now found the time and energy to release his super cool first album “Claus Remixed” (below) with a number of re-mixed holiday tunes – including Christmas in Hollis, Samba Dreidel, Jingle Funk, Hanukkah Oh Hanukkah, The First Noel and Winter Wonderland– all of which he’s very kindly made freely available for download to all his fans via Facebook.

Additionally, Centro Claus has also created some video diaries and wallpapers on Facebook as well as a repository for his new TV appearances explaining how the life of old Santa was transformed by his new smartphone…

Overall I’m sure that you’ll agree with me that this latest Palm marketing campaign is undoubtedly one of the coolest ever and hopefully a continued indication that the company is finally getting its act together in preparation for the imminent unveiling of the hugely anticipated new NOVA OS and related smartphones…

Another really cool part of the Palm Centro holiday campaign is that if you text CLAUS to 242242 you will learn how to text your holiday wish to Claus - the best part - one lucky person will have their wish granted (up to $10,000)!!!

With revenue in the last fiscal quarter down to abject levels, Plam certainly needs a Christmas miracle to stay afloat long enough for NOVA to see the light of day.

Wow, I can't believe Michael Rappaport is so desperate for roles that he is playing "Claus" in these Centro commercials. That guy has really hit the bottom. I remember him in movies like Higher Learning and Copland. I guess washed up actors will do anything to pay the bills. I am sorry, but the Centro will not save Palm and neither will a campaign featuring a hip Santa. The Centro is 3 years too late and the Treo Pro is 18 months late to the scene dominated by HTC and Samsung. 2009 might be the demise of Palm. Ironic that the new OS that they are banking on called No-va, literally means "It won't go" in latin.

Well, Palm's done dumber over the years, and it's somewhat clever and does hit the teenage market that would actually choose a Centro over a Treo. Kudos for Palm finally pulling out a "hail mary" here.

Meanwhile, hopefully they have some cash left over to make Nova go-va. WinceMobile has only set them back years and given them the cash to hang themselves.

PalmOS redux had better be good and shipping by groundhog day, or else Palm may never see spring....
