Sprint Treo Pro Available To Buy NOW!
Without Official Release or Announcement Sprint Treo Pro Now Available To Buy Online
Maybe someone jumped the gun or maybe Sprint just thought that people had been waiting long enough for its release of the Treo Pro but either way this absolutely terrific Windows Mobile smartphone is now available to buy from their website – all without any sort of official announcement coming out of Palm or Sprint.
[UPDATE: It appears that someone at Sprint did mess things up as the Treo Pro has now quickly and swiftly been removed from its website… I guess that we’re back to the original ETA of Sunday, January 25 now…]
The price of the Sprint Treo Pro is set at $249.99 with a two year contract but as is becoming fairly typical with all carriers these days this prices requires that you commit to a two year contract for a $200 Instant Savings + that you select an Everything plan, Data Premier add-on or PRO Pack add-on for a $100 Mail-in Rebate. The regular Sprint Treo Pro price without a contract is set at $549.99.
Separately, although many of the increased Sprint Treo Pro specifications that I mentioned yesterday have now have been confirmed – much faster CPU (528 MHz instead of 400 MHz), better GPS (now Assisted & Autonomous) and Sprint’s own Java solution called Titan – the one area that still needs to be clarified is the memory.
It appears that on the one hand that the Sprint Treo Pro will now benefit from a rather massive 512MB of non-volatile memory for RAM storage (up from 256MB) but only [unconfirmed] 96MB of ROM (down from 128MB) but we’ll have to wait until someone actually gets it in their hands to have the full lowdown on this.
Overall, like many I still consider the Treo Pro to be a “Super Hot” smartphone – one which has some of the very highest specifications available today to deliver a superfast and smooth experience while at the same time benefiting from an ultra-sleek and ultra-slim form-factor. If you want or need to use Windows Mobile for work then you won’t find a better choice than this.

Hmmmm...do I buy the WinMo Pro or do I wait for the Pre? My spidey sense tells me to buy BOTH!!! Thoughts?
Same question. I have Treo 650 with Verizon, own my own business (no other employees) and need regular email access. Don't use instant messages and only use text occasionally. Looks like I need to switch to Sprint for either the Pro or the Pre? Recommendations? THANKS!
Must resist temptation....
The temptation is strong but as long as we have waited the Pre is just around the corner now. Be strong my brothers.
Why would it tell me that it's not available in my ZIP code (as well as any other ZIP code I try)? Is that an issue with the roll-out?
Update to everyone....
Sprint made a boo-boo, this phone is not for sale yet!
Not truly available evidently. Either using your link Andrew, or logging on to Sprint with my credentials (I'm a Sprint customer) I get the message "not available in the zip code I entered". This must have been quickly pulled.
Evidently, Sprint's tech guys haven't given final approval yet. Sprint issued an apology for putting it up. Question is, how long before the techies in the back room sign off on it.
I chatted with a Sprint Rep yesterday and asked it the Pro was available and she said "check back in 3 days". That was yesterday so I assume that means Sunday/Monday.
Pushed back to February 15th.
Here is an initial review of the CMDA version which is actually different than the GMS one that has been tested. http://techtalkwithhaub.blogspot.com/
I love my Treo, but it's the Verizon 700W. I LOVE the specs on the Sprint Pro, but I'm not a Sprint fan, and I am really satisfied with Verizon. The Pre is Palm OS, and I like the WM 6.1. I guess I've got problems! Any word on Verizon perhaps getting the PRO?
2/16/09: Just got off chat with Sprint - the release date has been pushed back again (but no new date has been announced). Wah.
